Life expectancy for men is 76 in both the USA and Cuba, and 65 years on average for anywhere in the world which includes shitholes like Swaziland (32 years wtf ). Those numbers include infant mortality too, so the average lifespan of people who live past infancy is longer. Basically what I'm saying is he died "young" for this day and age. i read the local obituaries every day, dying young isn't as uncommon as people like to think E

My all time favorite bodybuilder hands down.
71 isn't too old to die... My dad died 3 months ago at the same age.
I`m sorry to hear that and offer my condolences my friend. I hope all of you are feeling better and in time it will get easier.

i am saddened by his death. Was a fantastic bodybuilder and an inspiration to many back in the time when bodybuilding was far more innocent and enjoyable.

No, I'm sure the IFBB health care plan that Chick got for all the athletes kicked in and covered his expenses 100%
He was a former Chicago cop, wouldn't he have had health care through his police pension? I worked out with him in downtown Chicago a number of times. Coincidently our workouts would have us hitting the tricep pressdown machine at the same time. I can only smile at his "outfits" and the amount of gold jewelry he wore.

Very sad to hear the news, RIP.
He was one of the greats, and had a one in a billion structure and genetics.
Three time Mr. O, and would have continued to win had he beaten Arnold in the politicking department.
Guys try to give Arthur Jones some credit for when Sergio spent some time in Deland, Florida around 1973, training on the Nautilus system. Sergio was already one of the greatest before Jones ever built his machines. (Sort of silly).
Probably looked better/cooler in clothes than any other bodybuilder. I wished I'd gotten the chance to see him in person.

Not for long and def. not forever, sadly.
Dialysis is a treatment for end stage kidney failure. It does not replace kidney function as such. Eventually, one must have a kidney transplant if their kidneys fail if they expect to extend their lives. Generally speaking the mortality rate for dialysis is about 15% for Peritoneal Dialysis patients, at 4 years, and about 25% for Hemodialysis our to 4 years. What that means is that after 4 year, 85% of Peritoneal Dialysis patients are still alive, and 75% of hemodialysis patients are still alive. Since the patient is going 3 times a week, this suggest that he is doing hemodialysis. Peritoneal dialysis is generally done daily. Other figures I have heard say that about 50% of patients are still alive after 7 years. All of this, though, also depends on the patients original state and other diseases, like diabetes. Being "bad diabetic" is not a good sign. Diabetes does HUGE amounts of damage to the kidneys, and is probably the reason they shut down. it is doubtful that they will start back up.... Dialysis is NOT perfect. It is MUCH better to have functioning kidneys! It is possible that the doctor might recommend increasing the treatments to 4-5 times a week. The only other possible treatment is a kidney transplant, but being a "bad diabetic" would only ruin the new kidneys, and it is doubtful that the doctor would recommend this.
