well, both can be fine in moderation, both are bad in excess, however because saturated fat intake is so strongly correlated with heart disease and a host of other diseases when total calorie intake is high enough, im gonna have to go with saturated fat.

Sugar (not 'sugars' ie fruits) imo is the first thing that has to go when you're doing ANY form of a BB of fitness diet.
Saturated fat is not too evil in reasonable amounts as long as you are within your calorie limits and the diet is clean everywhere else

Why? I'm sure the daily Vitargo/Karbolyn drinks containing pure sugar that people drink post workout are not harmful at all. The daily steak they eat a few hours later on the other hand ... (of course 1 steak a day isn't going to be harmful but you get the point)

Read Gary Taubes. Taubes books are pretty enlightening. It is interesting how fats behave/are processed in the presence of excessive carbohydrates. The theory that a calorie is a calorie is not exactly true. Fats, proteins and carbohydrates are all processed differently by the body.

Gary Taubes is considered a major quack. He's also not an educated nutritionist so I would never take any of his advise if I were you.

The book is really a dissection of nutritional studies, recommendations and conventional medical wisdom on diet. Taubes isn't coming up with his own theories on eating and it is in no way a diet book. I would read it before you form any judgement. From the tone of your reply I get the impression you have a false impression of what his books are about. This books is sports specific and not really relevant to what Taubes writes about. I will give the book you suggested a read.

sugar is worse with regards to "health"
but as far as "looks" are concerned, "diet" means nearly nothing, it's ALL in the training

In that case I will look into them. But still, there are nutritional scientists providing information, why not just listen to them? I hope no one thinks they all have an agenda and are providing false information?

Which Taubes' book do you recommend? So basically the only thing he does is look for flaws in studies? Then why the fuck is everyone saying he has his own diet recommendations and promotes a low carb diet?

The foods that contain the saturated fat yes but the fat itself? Take deep frying oil for instance which is pure saturated fat. What does it have that is beneficial for you apart from energy?

Let's re-phrase the question: Who here would rather drink 500 kcals of saturated fat in the form of deep frying oil each day (made into a drink that tastes ok, if that is possible haha), and who would rather drink 500 kcals of any of the commercial sports drinks containing only pure sugar each day? Disregarding the taste, I'd be 100% sure my health would not be negatively impacted by the 500 kcals of sports drinks, while it probably would be negatively impacted by the 500 kcals of deep frying oil. Both chemicals in a fair 1 vs 1. (stripped of their carrier foods) Voting is open

Saturdated is not bad. Hydrogenated oils are the fucking devil. The body doesn't even know how to use it for fuel.
