Jim Cornett, Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, JJ Dillon, Sensational Sheri, and Captain Lou Albano.

That's my top 6 in no particular order.

Pretty solid line up. I would add Shane McMahon.. not sure why but he always gave his 110% wearing his track pants.

Don't hate I'm a fan of the 90's.

Shane earned mad respect whenever he wrestled in my mind... He would do ANYTHING to make the audience happy.

I do appreciate that kind of work ethic.

especially considering where he comes from; yea it's the family business but he could be handling board meetings or make a clean cut no sweat appearance. Instead, decided to eat the dog food and pile up the bruises.

Only in fucking America. Gotta love and appreciate this country before it's too late.

Agreed... too many people don't appreciate the gift that has been bestowed upon them.

Heenan will always be my favorite.
Had storyline credibility, being a wrestler himself.
Was funny and entertaining.
Was an excellent mouthpiece for guys who couldn't talk.
Took better bumps in the match than some of the guys he managed.
Bobby was also the third in command of the WWF at one point, until I think it was George Scott who started a thinly-veiled petition to do away with the position.

Sherri possessed many of the above qualities, and her work with Savage was hilarious. As a bonus, she always looked very edible in those outfits she wore. Larry Zyszko was a lucky guy.

Albano & Blassie are, of course, excellent picks.
Add Fuji to the list. He was great with Muraco, the Moondogs, and Demolition later on.

Jim Cornette has a great mind for the business and contributed a lot of valuable input during his stints in WWF and TNA. I never cared for his on-air character, though.

As for Shane, I honestly believe he took all those crazy bumps in anticipation of heading the ship one day, and felt it would provide him some "street cred" with his roster. From what Paul Heyman has said, it sounds like little sister is tough to do business with. Add one more player (and three letters) to the equation, and I think maybe Shane O'Mac saw the writing on the wall and bailed for greener pastures.

Really?  I think he was great in the old NWA days at least.  His tennis racket and always talking about "momma."

Off the top of my head, J.J. Dillion, Paul Ellering, and maybe Paul Jones.  I liked Heenan with Bockwinkle, but hated everything he did in WCW and WWWF.

Absolutely! And to top it all off he could throw fireballs too!

Just off the top of my head I would have to go Bobby the brain, Paul Heyman, Percy Pringle and Skandar Akbar for my 4

I know alot of fans are completely against gimmicks of any sort. Hell, wasnt it Ole Anderson or one of those guys who had a little power who blacklisted a few of the simpler gimmicks from their business? I could be competely wrong on that by the way, just thought I read it somewhere.

Personally I liked alot of the gimmicks if they were well done and while I think Percy's best work was in the WCCW and prior, I always got a kick out of the Paul Bearer gimmick. Although it was cheesy as hell, William Moody always had that fantastic ability as a physical comedian that he left me in stitches most times I watched Paul Bearer.

Bobby the Brain for his quick wit. Percy/Bearer for the comedy. Heyman for his ability to sell himself as a complete slimeball. And Skandar for the massive amount of heat he drew and part nostalgia in that I can remember being about 5 years old and thinking he was the scariest guy in all of wrestling.

It was pure cheese, but it was in line with that era of wrestling.

I never cared for the whole Undertaker gimmick. In fact, my little asshole buddies and I were in grade school at the time and used to make fun of it, comparing that horrible purple ring gear to Disney's Darkwing Duck - complete with the hat, cape, gloves and boots.

But, for what was originally such a tacky gimmick, I think that Mark Calloway did with it the most that anyone ever could have.

I've never really liked the Undertaker at all.

8 moves.... Really "phenomenal" ::)

I do agree that if anyone else had been that gimmick it would have died as fast as Isaac Yankem.

Boy, am I with you on that one.  To me, that gimmick epitomized all that was wrong with wrestling in that era.

That was most of the WWF roster (which was then imitated by WCW to a large extent)
Duke "The Dumpster,"
Adam Bomb,
Doink and Dink,
Skinner,
Repo Man,
The Survivor Series Turkey...

Granted, some of those guys were good workers, like Matt Borne and Steve Keirn; they just had stupid gimmicks that were no fault of theirs. Undertaker seemed to be the forerunner to a lot of those. On his debut night, the old man really wanted to build him up and gave strict orders to the locker room that Taker was not to leave his feet.
How's that for a push?

Taker is the only Federation gimmick from that era to endure this long. He's gone through many revisions and variations, but he's always been the Undertaker, and everyone behind that character - from Calloway himself, to his opponents, the bookers, Vince, and anyone else involved in any way - deserves much credit to the character's longevity.
