That photo just gave me a boner. Ron, you know how I can contact her, so I can sweet talk and tear that up.

Why do you think it's practically impossible to get under the guy's skin?  I'd be pretty unflappable, and perpetually pleasant too, if i knew that myself and the next ten generations of my family are set for life the moment they are born.

Leasing should be called what it is, renting. Guys showing off their leased cars is like a guy saying check out my girlfriend and it's a rented prostitute.

If you are a leasing fan look at how much money you will spend in 12 years leasing cars. If you can't afford  to buy an expensive car outright and you lease them for years you will throw away a lot of money away. Buy a car that that has a great reputation for reliability and keep it for 6 to 10 years.

The worse guy to get car buying advice is a car salesman. Also sources like Consumer reports and Edmunds gives you an idea what you can get the car for but they are really off. I once did 4K cheaper on a car that consumer reports claimed a dealer paid for it. Did the dealer make a profit on me. Hell yes. Dealers do not sell cars for a $100 dollar profit. They would be better off selling cookies door to door. This nonsense that you  bought a car and they made chump change is the biggest con game going. They want you to leave thinking you beat them. They make thousands per car. What happens when they buy in bulk the get a different price depending on how many cars they buy. Car salesmen aren't privy to that information. I learned this from being involved with the government  buying Crown Vics and Dodge Durangos  under what any source on the internet said a dealer pays for the car.  Don't ask to see the tissue invoice because you will be conned by bull shit paper.

Good post.

A friend of mine owns multiple towing companies in Phoenix.  he tows repos. cars that have been seized by Police, broken down cars, etc..

Over 70% of these cars are never reclaimed. the owner got deported, went to jail, couldn't afford to fix it, whatever....and after 30 days, they are his cars...for FREE.   and guess what....it just so happens that my friend ALSO owns 6 used car dealerships where he sells these cars that he got for free for thousands of dollars at astronomical interest rates

New cars, used cars...the automotive industry is the racket of rackets.

Please do this and you will be like me...driving a 2012 Mercedes for the price of a Honda

Go to lease trader or those bullshit website where you switch leases...look for advertising near you city..the independent companies...call them ask ask for a quote on what you whant..what ever they give you in the quote.(.rememeber to tell them what you wont spend max wise)tell them that you have a better offer from someone from the website you founds his advertising....this is where you control your payment..what ever he offered you..lower it reasonably 100-300 dollars..tell him not to call you back if he can't match offer..that your going to get the other offer soon if he doesn't match..do with a serious voice...99 percent of the time they will budge in their commission and lower it to whatever you told him..watch out with closing costs adds he does..minimize those with the fake other offer..the extend you want to play with this guy is up to you..have him email you this offer...take this offer to your local Mercedes Benz..let the sales guy know that you want to do business now..you have an offer..you give it to him..let him know that if they are willing to beat the offer to call you..but not to waste your time..only serious ...

In the mean time budge with the other guy for time..

Take best offer

You didn't do that but you saw recently a video ( live leak I believe) where a guy precisely told the same story

i hope he got you a car at cost (you said $0), or did you pay through the nose too?  now, don't lie.

the yr i got my accord ex, i knew two people with the same model.  i ended up paying $0 down and $365 a month while the other two did cash down and paid from $425 - $500 a month. now, of course the dealer made a profit off of me, but I probably got one of the better deals in a  buyers group, so i did ok.  that's a good indicator.

My lease on my wife's C300 is drawing to an end.  Leasing is "renting".  If you are comfortable with that (as we have been), then by all means lease.  If not, buy.
We are considering both options.   It has been a good car but she is used to a new car ever few years.  This most recent lease was for 27 months.  I will not be buying the car at the end.  She needs to decide what she wants and whether or not we an afford it.

I paid next to nothing for my car(s). i drive a different car every six months, i just go onto his lot and pick out what i like, slap a dealer plate on it and drive it away

as long as i'm under contract for my research firm, they keep me in leased vehicle, but the brain trust on getbig would have me go out and buy and eat the difference once i drive off of the lot again.

Yup.  A lease can be a good thing, especially so in your case.

did he get his cars for free ?....200 of them a month?

and the best thing is.... if he can't sell them, since they are towed under city contracts, AZ pays him about 600 a car, doesn't matter if it a burned out hull.

when i say RACKET, I'm not kidding.....he spits on the cars he gives me....... and he doesn't GIVE them to me...but to say i get a fucking DEEP discount would be an understatement. You wouldn't believe me if i told you how much i paid for my current car...a GS350.

Leasing:

 Selling Price-Residual Value=Depreceation

(Depreciation x Money Factor)÷term=Base Monthly Payment

Base Monthly Payment x State Sales Tax=Total Monthly Payment

This is not renting. It is financing the portion of the car you are using, with the option to either turn the vehicle in or purchase the vehicle for the Residual Value. I guarantee you 70% of BMW's and Benz's are leased and not purchased. People who both make and understand money realize that purchasing a vehicle isn't always optimal. People who don't make and understand money call it "renting".

Yes, I understand it all but simplify it by referring to it as "renting".

Semantics

rent with option to buy, same fucking thing.
