Semantics

rent with option to buy, same fucking thing.
Not even close. Go try renting a car from Enterprise for 36 months and see what you pay. The formula a rental company uses is profoundly different than leasing. Apples and oranges. For those who can't stand being wrong: too bad. You are.

he doesn't need to know the formula because his boyfriend keeps him in a new car every 6 months free of charge.

because they are in the short term renting business

car dealers are in the long term renting business.

I realize the financial models are vastly different, and i don't know the inner workings, but renting something..is renting something.

a night at the Marriott costs $190

if you book an extended stay hotel, you pay 40 a night

i have a car from my contractor in san diego, but i still have to cover the maintenance.  they cover cost and insurance.  on the backend i make money for them.  your buddy just eats money on cars every six months because he loves you.  you're a bigger clown than that fool in canada, who was harassing you.  then again, birds of a feather flock together.

Jay Cutler wishes he would have listened to people who told him to "RENT" a house in Vegas instead of buy one.

I've never known anyone who "leased" a car who

(1) didn't try to hide the fact that they leased it
(2) wasn't at least a little bit of a loser

Leasing:

 Selling Price-Residual Value=Depreceation

(Depreciation x Money Factor)÷term=Base Monthly Payment

Base Monthly Payment x State Sales Tax=Total Monthly Payment

This is not renting. It is financing the portion of the car you are using, with the option to either turn the vehicle in or purchase the vehicle for the Residual Value. I guarantee you 70% of BMW's and Benz's are leased and not purchased. People who both make and understand money realize that purchasing a vehicle isn't always optimal. People who don't make and understand money call it "renting".

And how many people with 800 credit scores who lease a 7 series for $1000 a month have even heard of you?

Leasing should be called what it is, renting. Guys showing off their leased cars is like a guy saying check out my girlfriend and it's a rented prostitute.

one could argue that's often the case, for both genders

Just last month I found a gorgeous 2007 350 with only 27k miles for 19,900.  Did not buy because my wife dint like the color.  If you're patient and utilize eBay and Craigslist, you will eventually find a great deal.  Just takes time.

If you are a leasing fan look at how much money you will spend in 12 years leasing cars. If you can't afford  to buy an expensive car outright and you lease them for years you will throw away a lot of money away. Buy a car that that has a great reputation for reliability and keep it for 6 to 10 years.

Yes, it is renting because you always rent items that depreciate i.e. cars; always buy items that appreciate, like property, houses, and gold. I lease not because I can't

afford to buy (because I can), but because it is financially smarter. If you don't like it, don't lease, but don't spread misinformation about it. I have leased my last 5 cars because it

works for me. How many have you leased?

i wouldn't mind leasing but 15k miles won't get you through 6 months in cali, let alone 12.

Not hardly. I am correct about what defines an automotive lease. The more yourself and others try to appear knowledgable, the more adverse effect is realized. Nobody who understands automotive financing would agree a word of your bullshit.
