I have routinely compared my physique to his.
I am not, will not (at 45) ever be a mass monster.
I have sort of considered him my model of fitness.

Zane was the master of the zero carb diet......that is why he was always in such good condition for shows....but a low carb diet is very hard to stay on.

When I was growing up we all wished we were built like Zane. I don't see who would want to look like the guys of today.

true but sad reality is people see pro bbing today as freak's,zane's size is possibly attainable, but contest condition is another matter between diet and some sort of contest prep drug's to achieve that grainy and seperated muscle he had and maintain size he was about 190  185 in shape, that's still lightheavy in amateur level.

I think Zane was HIGHLY overrated. He never should have won the O.

How he was allowed to beat Robby, I'll never know

Even at age 90 or so or however the fuck old he was here, he was better than Zane ever was

alot of us do

I joke around a lot about how much I think his physique was overrated, but I obviously don't know the man. He seemed to be kinda humorless on the Flex magazine show though. Wouldn't laugh even when Levrone and Ray were cracking pretty funny jokes. Also, he looked so small compared to those guys. I know he was retired for a long time at that point, but it seemed inconceivable that he was ever a bodybuilder.

The thing about Zane is that he was Mr O at the low point of bodybuilding. The dark ages so to speak. He would have been annihilated by Arnie or Sergio and also by the next era guys like Haney, Labrada, and Ray.

Thats funny, b/c Zane beat Arnold at the Mr Universe contest........and to be honest Haney, Labrada and Ray would also destroy Arnie.........

With all due respect 619, judges at bodybuilding contests are fags. This is a fact.

I always felt Robby was way under rated & even Arnold held him to a lower level.

I've seen Robby many time as well . . . I was at the 76 Universe, 77,78 & 79 Olympias and Robby ( in those contests )could not hold a candle to Frank.

It's all about the day of the contest.
