oh geez, I can't imagine that second of helplessness as it sinks in that you're going to hit the ground... sucks man.
how many years was the recovery? Are you back to 'normal' again, or will the body never be the same?
You got it. when that ladder kicked out and i was hanging in the air for a split second, it was the worst feeling of my life. it's not like i slid down a roof and knew it was coming and could hang on the gutter, and try and land right. it was just "ZIP" and i was midair, instantly. i reached out and tore the gutter right off the house, sliced the shit out of my fingers
and i got lucky as fuck, all things considered. to my left was all of the service to the house, meters, pipes and whatnot, and to my right..like two feet, was a metal fence. I landed right between the two of them with likes inches to spare.I got hurt pretty good, but i could have got fucking horribly mangled.
i recovered quick, did P/T for six months.. never even went for shoulder surgery. my ortho said that shoulder surgery was no guarantee, it's the hardest joint in the body to successfully repair. I had no pain so i passed on it, and i am fine....
the only thing is if i lean on my right elbow for too long, like laying down with your arm holding you up...my shoulder hurts like a fuck after a few minutes. and my injuries are covered for life so if it ever got bad i can have it taken care of
