I'd do it, but be prepared for the whirlwind that follows. I got lit up for suggesting some $500 David Yurman sunglasses.

My number one recommended shoe. They are 100 percent made in America and are much, much higher quality than anything from any other country.  They use only top grain, aniline leather or Horween Horsehide.

They are also made with steel shanks in them and will last a lifetime.  You can also send them back to the manufacturer for a complete restoration.  There is no reason why you shouldn`t have these shoes 50 years from now.  Even 100 years.

I have many pair and I even have one from 1951 that I wear on occasion. Buy them, you can`t have better quality.

People in Japan so desperately want American Made goods, especially Aldens, they will easily pay a thousand or more for the quality.

American Made Leather goods are second to none.

I great pair of shoes is certainly required for posting, but don't forget about typing. I use an Omas Gaia High Luxury Limited Fountain Pen to tap the keys for my posts. Only the most pathetic of posers would use less.

THE BEEF is into footwear . . . Several pairs of exotics, many, many pairs of dress shoes $250 - $300 a pop. However, if you are looking for a good boot in the $375 - $500 range, Mark Nason is it. THE BEEF has 9 pair ranging from $275 ( on sale ) to $500 plus shipping for a new release. Nason is the shit.

Mark Nason has some great stuff. Nice leathers superior quality. One thing- you had better be under 35 years old if you wear Mark Nason. Anyone older looks like old dude having a midlife crisis, or a dude that has a 26 year old hooker buying his shoes.

He has an entry level line that is marginal and his high end stuff that is nice, and a lot of his stuff is very "Affliction" ish.

OP, go with Johnston & Murphy for $225-250 and spend the extra bread on a couple vials of Deca.

The leather they use is inferior.  They compensate with poor cuts of leather by crappy dye jobs and distressing to mask that they are using bottom grade hides.

Balmorals are pretty formal.  Are you going to be wearing them (exclusively) with a suit?

I had to google Alden - never heard of them. Nice looking shoes, and expensive, too. I have a pair of penny loafers that I break out once a year for a dressy occasion, so I'm not much of a clothes horse.  Grin
