Media hype.
You are right though. By definition, if one was charged with "assault" wouldn't that encompass all weapons whether that is hands, bat, knife, etc..All weapons could be termed Assault weapons, if that makes sense.

Revolvers have speed loaders, deer rifles can be just as deadly, shotguns etc etc.

then don't make stupid arguments... i'm not against gun ownership in general... personally i think SATs should be required... if American'ts only sold guns to people with an SAT score of 1000 or more there would both be less guns and less dangerous people with guns

If there's no difference in deadly force between an AR-15 and a baseball bat, then you should be okay with getting rid of the AR-15.
You'll still have the bat......
The point is, these lunatics all seem to be sane enough to know what fuckin' types of guns to use. The answer is pretty clear - semi-automatics.
They're big men with a semi-automatic.
Not so big with a Colt revolver............

yes - because an asian student at VT, a neuroscience grad student at CU and fucking science club member would nt be able to score 1000 on the SAT. brilliant solution, canadian tard.

I know 2 people that reload bullets. It's a very simple although precise process. I'm betting that the cost of bullets won't stop killers from buying. You're missing the point. Responsible gun owners will always be safe with firearms. I own few rifles pistols & shotguns. I follow a rules. It's the lunatics that will stop at nothing to do damage that are the problem & you can't stop that from happening no matter what laws you make. I am in favor of a drivers education style license however because even at the shooting rane there are morons that have no idea what they are doing.

x2.. Their needs to be serious reform involved with gun control. Maybe a psychological exam of sorts for the buyer, along with the mandatory criminal background check and valid purpose(s) to own the gun should be established. That said, we do have a right to bear arms, so unless they decide to do something about the constitution, it's going to be difficult to change things. " 1"

Do I think it necessary to own an AR-15? No, not really, but I see the argument, that once you start the regulation, it doesn't stop at that one restriction. It may not be immediate, but eventually more restrictions get put into place that would curb your ability to buy a gun. Maybe not in your lifetime, but eventually.

the right to bear arms is irrelevant... it's the right to bear arms as part of a militia "There are several versions of the text of the Second Amendment, each with slight capitalization and punctuation differences, found in the official documents surrounding the adoption of the Bill of Rights.[5] One version was passed by the Congress,[6] while another is found in the copies distributed to the States[7] and then ratified by them. As passed by the Congress:A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. As ratified by the States and authenticated by Thomas Jefferson, Secretary of State:A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_ConstitutionToday American't has a bloated, dysfunctional military to bear its arms...

this is what kinda nullifies all of the arguments being made... if guns and ammo are available, crazy people will find a way to get them...
