It's a proven fact that 100% of criminals prefer unarmed victims.
Any criminal with reading skills would look at the list and decide against messing with any of those people.

so youre saying they put the ppl whos names dont appear on that list in danger then? anyway you try and slice this its idiotic and serves no purpose except to stir the pot. Someone should get the names and addresses of the employees of this news paper and publish those and see how much those libtard morons like it.

What thief is going to knowingly break into a home of someone who owns a gun. True, but it also tells them where they can likely score some firearms when no one's home. I have a gun safe bolted to my basement floor and lock everything (guns) up before leaving the house.

This is what bothers me... I used to know a couple meth heads that cased a Police officers house on and off for a couple months, waited for him to take the family and go on vacation, and then backed a truck up to his driveway in the middle of the day, opened his garage, and loaded his gun safe up and drove off with it. No one even asked questions because they just went in like they owned the place.

Anything is possible. There are some crafty assholes out there, no doubt. But, mine isn't some cheapy safe you can buy on sale at Dick's, and it's a good precaution against most common/petty-thieves, who will lack the necessary skill required to get in.

^^ I agree. I also think it is an entirely different context to take information like this (public record, or not), and condense it into a local newspaper with the IMPLICATION that the names contained therein are of people with dubious qualities and malicious intent.
IMO, that violates every iota of journalistic integrity, and demonstrates extreme agenda-pushing to create bias and animosity against private, law-abiding citizens.

If anything they would use the list to know which houses to avoid
maybe just the opposite, this gives thiefs a nice little map for which homes to avoid. Maybe people without permits should be just as pissed lol...

Usually only the people that are putting them into the paper, not to mention they usually don't have addresses.
Correct... Obituaries are also not public... People send the notices in.

Yep. No doubt that whoever came by to grab his guns and kick his ass would be some of the "thugs" he fears so much.

Bad decision. I agree with those who said it gives criminals a map of houses that probably don't have guns.

the moron thinks that criminals will now break into houses where they know the homeowner has guns apparently the moron is much dumber than the average criminal btw - if you anyone has a problem with having this then DON'T BUY A GUN the public has a right to know this information which is why it's a public record

this is why people buy guns at gun shows using the loophole
you can get out of prison, get your $ from work detail, hitchkike to the gun show, and then buy an AR-15 rifle from some dude you've never met with no paperwork. you can buy ammo. and you can have it all without your name going into the paper too.

so what the only reason they don't do it for everyone is that no one cares it doesn't change the fact that papers publish obits on people without their consent btw "public figure" and "public records" notice anything in common
