the thing is players have off the field issues, carmelo's wife is a known whore.

this is why kobe is having a great year, he just thinks of basketball, nothing else, he wants that 6th ring.

the problem with the knicks is they rely on the 3pt shot.

arce dont forget, the knicks are about to lose, all there bigs are injured, all of them. chandler is hurt, kenyon martin is hurt and amare (who is useless anyway)

Amare is perhaps the most useless and overpaid player i can recall, even gilbert arenas is more valuable and his in the D league.

Back to Lakers, kobe is in pain, playing over 45 mins per game in the last 4 games, his hurting, his killing himself just to make the 8th, as soon as they make the playoffs they will get steamrolled.

The Lakers announced Friday night that All-Star guard Kobe Bryant has suffered a “probable torn left Achilles” tendon and will undergo an MRI to confirm the injury on Saturday. If confirmed, the injury would surely end his 2012-13 season.

“Terrible,” Bryant said during post-game comments. “A terrible feeling. … I made a move I’ve made a million times, and [the Achilles] just popped.”

Bryant, 34, left the Lakers’ 118-116 win over the Warriors on Friday after falling to the court in the fourth quarter while attempting to drive to his left past Harrison Barnes on the perimeter. Bryant walked off the court under his own power but moved gingerly. Bryant departed with 3:05 remaining in the fourth quarter and did not return. He finished with 35 points, five rebounds and four assists in 45 minutes.

The 5-time champion and 15-time All-Star  reportedly spoke openly about the possibility of surgery after the game and would not entertain the idea that the injury, which could sideline him for months, would be career-ending.

“Are you kidding?” Bryant said in response to a query on the subject, according to Lakers.com.

The 17-year veteran appeared to suffer two previous injuries during the game. He came up holding his left knee after a hard drive to the hoop and appeared to favor his right ankle after a spinning drive.

Bryant averaged 27.3 points, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 77 appearances for the Lakers entering Friday. He has averaged 38.5 minutes per game this season, tied for fourth-most in the NBA, and has played at least 40 minutes in L.A.’s last seven games. Bryant previously missed time this season with a sprained ankle.

L.A. improved to 43-37 with the win and maintained control of the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, holding a one-game lead over Utah, who beat Minnesota on Friday night. The Lakers have just two games remaining in the regular season, against the Spurs on Sunday and the Rockets on Wednesday.

fuck taking credit for that, nash is alway injured, last year he was on his back all last year on the suns bench.

Ok BD you can share the credit. Kobe was due to break down. Im not happy about it, cause i want him to be healthy and NOT make the playoffs, arce has something personal with him as his from LA, but i like to win or lose on a even and fair field.

Injuries are a part of the game but what a time to have the acl go pop.

IF the Lakers face the Spurs.... and its' DWIGHT'S team... it could get interesting.  He's probably so energized and happy to have it suddenly be HIS team a week before the playoffs begin.

I dunno if they could stop the fast Thunder... I dunno if anyone can...

But I really hope we suddenly see the Dwight that led the Magic to the Finals.  Who else remembers that run?  The NBA was BEGGING for a LeBron vs Kobe finals... Dwight got SCREWED by refs nonstop, and was surrounded with scrubs - and he led them to the Finals.  I could see that Dwight suddenly giving a shit and returning.

240, Howard is terrible, he has no offensive move. Good for marketing terrible for winning.

QB also called the refs and the nba stealing these last games and pushing the lakers and kobe in to the play offs versus the Thunder. He said that the Thunder would SWEEP Lakers.

Denver, guard your concierges!

And if Kobe gets a pity slot on the Lakers' playoff roster - and they somehow win a ring thanks to pure luck and Dwight coming to life - it'd be crazy to see Kobe win a 6th title while wearing a suit for the entire playoff run.

Lots of storylines suddenly.

They saying it takes a year to come back from that injury. Should the Lakers pay him 30 plus million to sit on the bench next season?

What happens if they don't want him?  NBA salary is guaranteed but if they cut him, they dodge the salary cap hit?

Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports:

More details emerged about Kobe Bryant’s contract extension that he signed Friday. The guard’s three-year deal is worth $83.546 million, just below the league maximum of about $90 million, according to several NBA team officials who were not authorized to speak publicly.

His three-year deal averages out to $27.85 million per season.

Bryant, who earns $23 million this season and $24.8 million next season, will get $25.244 million for the 2011-12 season, $27.849 million 2012-13 and $30.453 million in the 2013-14 season when he turns 35.

Bryant, 31, has a no-trade clause in the contract, but he doesn’t have an opt-out clause as he had in his last contract.

However, if Bryant does accept a trade, his contract has a trade kicker that could be worth as much as 15% of the remaining years left on the contract.
