Leopards are part of the Big Cat family---as they have the ability to roar, but some "small cats" are bigger than Leopards--namely the cougar, aka puma, aka panther, aka painter.
That being said, Big Game hunters of the 19th and 20th centuries often considered the leopard one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Due to its smaller size, and it's ability to climb, it's more agile and can inflict a lot of damage.
