american restaurant menu's
« on: January 01, 2013, 12:00:27 PM »

Is there a law in america that says that buffalo wings must be served with blue cheese dressing (preferably in a small plastic pot)

Whilst travelling around america I noticed with the exception of some fanatastic ma & pa type places, that everywhere seems to have menus that contain almost the same selection of items without variation, hamburger, ribs, buffalo wings, new york cheesecake, chocolate cake everywhere the same things over and over.

Those are the staples of the American diet. They also offer the wings and cheeseburgers in Mexican and Chinese places for those that will only eat American.

where you are from, are there not staples of your country's diet. Every town boasting "the best ____ you can get."

Every country has its cuisine, every country has its "comfort food"---and then you can break it down to culture and location.
Go down South, and you get Big Helpings at breakfast, brunch  and/or supper. And big on pork---ham, sausage, ribs, chops. Also grits, porridge, cream of wheat, etc.
You get this primarily from farming communities, or places that used to be farming communities

Yes it's mainly a mixture of blood and oatmeal with onion and pork fat.
Perfect mix of protein, fat and carbs. I sometimes put half a pound in the microwave and in 2 minutes
and hey presto.

I eat it all the time but prefer a haggis supper from the chip shop or jumbo sausage   :D

Chinese, Indian, Turkish Kebabs, macdonalds, KFC, burger king.......all good British stuff.

you went to the wrong restaurants.  Sounds like you ate at all the chain places, like Chilis and Applebees.  Go to San Francisco or New York and you will find some of the best food in the world.
