There is some merit to this.  I believe many would be more likely to come to the defense of Martin had he been white and the shooter been black.  The case would also not receive as much exposure had victim/defendant been of the same race and by now would be largely forgotten.

What this incident should focus on is fear, the emotion that motivates everything we do.  Martin had similar physical attributes and mannerisms as previous burglars and prowlers that were seen in the neighborhood committing criminal acts.  Zimmerman's aggressive tactics provoked fear in Martin, who likely knew nothing of the recent criminal events.

Exactly, that's why profiling can be so wrong. When you look at vague profiles that cast nets too wide.. teenage black male. Declares an entire demographic guilty. Good luck walking out of your house, ...especially when that profile consists of factors one is powerless to change.

Zimmerman has fear, ...bu obviously not ENOUGH fear, or he would have stayed put when advised to do so by police. He sure as heck wouldn't have followed an innocent kid 2 blocks.

Who can argue Martin didn't have a justifiable right to fear for his life when an armed man stalks him for two blocks?

All you guys who argued how justifiable Zimmerman was, or hat he should have received a medal, ... would you feel the same way if the victim was a blond haired, blue eyed WASP teenager named Johnny Appleseed, ...and the shooter was an Iraqi, or Afghan Muslim? Afterall, we have seen much precedent over the past decade where Americans have gone into many Muslim communities and no only committed tremendous thefts, but also wanton destruction, and murder. Would you be so supportive of the Arab Muslim who stalked then shot an innocent unarmed white teenager? Would you call that teenager a thug because he may have smoked recreational herbs (ala 8x Olympic Gold medallist Michael Phelps?)   like most kids in America today?

Just consider what your gut reactions would be? Or the debate you'd be having.

What if it had been a woman? ...who upon seeing a bodybuilder got scared because after all Craig Titus had committed murder of a woman smaller than him, ...therefore upon sight, all bodybuilders should be feared, then stalked for 2 blocks, confronted and shot?
