I remember him losing to makawy in was it Atlantic city n that pretty much broke the camels back. Upped the dose n blew out his liver n kidneys.

I recall you relating the story, the trip to germany via london...

I wonder if he ever looked back on that, and thought "fuck, I placed 2nd to Haney at the NOC in 83, Makkawy just beat me at the Pro World, what if..."

DeFerro's heart seized up (heart disease). But ya, I'm sure his other organs weren't in pristine condition either..

He died of heart problem, maybe had pre-existing stuff that hormones didn't exactly help, but the poster boy for abuse of orals and steroids overall, Pete Grimko is still alive after decades of retirement, so that says something for harmful effects of anabolics.

Some people will die young regardless of wether they engage in healthy or harmful lifestyles,

yeah. Wasnt sure how he died. I just remember all the talk around the gym about deferro pissing blood but maybe it was just talk

always wondered why he didn`t do the 83 Olympia,seeing as how he beat Haney earlier in the year and Haney took 3rd in the olympia,then as you mentioned he came to london,he did the grand prix,but only turned up for the morning pre-judging and didn`t turn up for the night time show.
