Teen gunman fatally shoots 5 in U.S. home
« on: January 20, 2013, 06:36:41 PM »
This tragedy may have been prevented if the family was wearing full body armor 24/7 (just to be safe) and if all family members (kids included) were carrying handguns.

Guns don't kill people... wait... they killed 5 people... but more guns would have made things better... brought to you by the NRA.

Teen gunman fatally shoots 5 in U.S. home

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Three children and two adults were shot to death a home in southwest Albuquerque, N.M., by a teenager using, among other weapons, an assault rifle, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.

The 15-year-old suspect, who was not identified, was arrested on suspicion of murder and “child abuse resulting in death,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a written statement.

Each victim — a man, a woman, a boy and two girls — had been shot several times, authorities said. Their ages were not given.

But local officials identified one of the five victims as a fire department chaplain who also worked with jail inmates. Albuquerque Fire Chief James Breen says Greg Griego’s calming spirit and gentle nature will be greatly missed.

Metropolitan Detention Center Chief Ramon Rustin says Griego volunteered at the jail for 13 years and was instrumental in the creation of its chaplain program.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found several weapons inside, and “multiple” guns appeared to have been used, including the rifle, the sheriff’s office said.

“There’s no other way to say it, but we have a horrific crime scene we’re working, and it’ll be intensive, and we’ll work hard to do everything that needs to be done,” Sheriff Dan Houston told KRQE, an Albuquerque TV station.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Aaron Williamson said Sunday afternoon that officials were still working to identify the victims and the owner of the guns. Officials had not yet determined whether the victims were related to each other or to the suspect.

Williamson said police had not had any recent history of responding to calls at the home or the surrounding area.

Either the media is entering a phase of hellbent dedication to reporting gun homicide where previously they did not (and gun crime hasn't actually increased), or otherwise there may be a wave of vaguely Sandy Hook-esque "copycat" incidents on the horizon, an unfortunate phenomenon effecting the frequency of a variety of crimes but also imaginary events like alien abductions and demonic possessions (e.g., a report of a bizarre and "unexplained" alien abduction comes out and subsequently reports of abduction spike for a time). It's also possible that gun homicide is ticking upward for some other unexplained reason.

I hope analysts and policymakers are smart enough to differentiate the above scenarios and determine which is actually occurring before formulating a response.

unless the gun use is in defense of someone, then it will certainly go under the radar

what are you not for banning any of those?

If I ever snap and go on a killing spree I am not using a gun.  I am just going to throw all my victims to the ground and deliver a Hogan style leg drop on them.   Cause we all know nobody ever gets up from that.

The family had it coming.

They should have armed themselves.

Here’s a List of People Injured or Killed by Guns on ‘Gun Appreciation Day’
Robert Kessler

Yesterday was deemed a day to appreciate your guns in America, and boy did we. Five people were shot at gun shows in North Carolina, Ohio and Indiana. These were not, however, the only instances of gun violence yesterday.

As happens everyday, numerous people were either injured or killed by guns on "Gun Appreciation Day," be it on purpose or accidentally. Spanning Alaska to Florida, here are those people:

A 14-year-old suburban Atlanta boy shot and killed his 15-year-old brother while playing with their mother's handgun.
A 26 year old was shot and killed while driving in San Francisco.
A man was found dead from a gunshot wound in his home in Kansas City, Kansas.
A woman in an El Paso County, Texas shooting range was hit in the knee by a bullet that ricocheted off a trash can.
Two women were shot to death in a Dallas-area home.
Two women were injured after someone opened fire at a crowded soccer field in Las Vegas.
A 15-year-old girl was shot while sleeping in her bed when her Anchorage home was shot at.
A 7-year-old boy in Tallahassee shot a 5 year old with a gun he found in a 22-year-old relative's room.
A Huntsville woman shot her boyfriend after the two had an argument.
A 23-year-old man died after being accidentally shot in a Greshman, Oregon home.
A Cleveland father has been charged in connection with the death of his 6-year-old daughter from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
One man was shot in Elyria, Ohio, just west of Cleveland, early Saturday morning.
A man was found shot dead in a parking lot in Greenville County, South Carolina.
Two people were shot and killed outside an inn in Hampton, Virginia.
At least 10 people were shot in Chicago, at least two were fatal.
A Colorado Springs man was driven to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
A Jackson, Mississippi police officer was shot while responding to a disturbance call.
One man was shot at a Martin Luther King Jr. parade in Jackson.
Two men and one woman were shot at a home in Oakland.
An 11-year-old boy was shot in an Oklahoma City apartment complex.
Police in Richmond, Virginia are looking for three men who shot another man in his thirties.
Police believe gang violence is to blame for the shooting death of one man in Santa Ana, California.
An early morning shooting in Tuscaloosa injured two teenagers.

so you're saying a gun is an easy way to kill people

if so they why are you asking me about banning knives and blunt object when I've NEVER even advocated banning guns

It's seems almost like you've never heard me say that before

weird

True enough. But per the story this wasn't a street thug who obtained illegal weapons to use. These were ordinary americants with weapons in their home.

The kid's insanity can't be pushed from the foreground, though, as convenient as it may be to attempt to do so.

you dont advocate the banning of any guns?

thats news to me, youve been on here mutiple times ranting and raving about "assault weapons" and wanting them banned.

youre not ranting and raving against knives over a certain length, sharpened tips, hammers over a certain size etc.

This is nothing more than an attempt to politicize a tragic situation to further political agenda.
