Arming our teachers

I was thinking about this.  By arming our teachers where do they keep the gun?  In a safe?  I can guarantee back when I was in school, if there was a gun onsite, guaranteed some kids would have cracked that safe and had it.  Kids in my school used to scale the ventalation system to get into other rooms, steal petty cash, video shit, everything.  A gun would have been as easy as stolen in minutes.  this system seems flawed. 

Now the opposition would say that these teachers would carry the gun instead.  Which I know for a fact that kids would try their fucking hardest to piss off the teacher to see them snap.  People act like kids in school are these angels, but most are fucked up little shits out to cause trouble.

i agree it would not work. A school teacher is not like a trained soldier. Think about the diffrent characters you get in Teachers. Would they all react and shoot a student who was armed, a student they might KNOW fairly well. A school teacher has no business with a weapon.

I went to McDonalds today for my customary McDouble, and I was unarmed.

I saw various races there. I'm sure there were atheists, people who watched porn, listend to rock n roll, and children of divorce. I even saw someone in a Tapout t-shirt.

Nobody got shot. Media dissapoints me. Will hope for shooting at next outing to Home Depot on Saturday. They have a Subway there, which I know serves hot peppers.

If there was going to ever be a policy in place that allowed guns in school, I would rather have armed, trained guards stand post, as opposed to a kindergarten teacher having a gun. Seriously, the NRA or whoever it was, were a bunch of morons for proposing that kindergarten teachers should be strapped. Though as stated, I would have no problem with an armed guard (who is highly trained) stand post.

Surrounding cities (to my own) have extremely low crime rates.  Like zero murders going back decades.  I don't think these people would mind though, its not like they're just giving teachers a gun and saying "GOOD LUCK!"..

These would be individuals that would be trained just like a police officer.  They would probably keep the firearm concealed on their person.

Most places in the United States are probably pretty comparable to countries like the UK as far as homicide rates go.

Our stats are skewed by fucked up places like Chicago (where guns are unconstitutionally banned), where criminals are killing criminals every day over drugs and shit.  There are millions of gang members in the US.  We boarder Mexico which might be the most violence place in the world.  All this contributes

that's an excellent point actually. it's just taht schools are the one place that can be free of all that shit. where childrens (and teachers) only concerns are learning and fun. todays fucking world i guess

Here's how I would run it.

1) Solicit teachers that would want to do it for a bump in pay.

2) Have the State police run the back ground checks, and handle the threat assessment and firearms training. People like to think that the teachers wouldn't be able the guns as efficiently as police, but that's non-sense. Firearms training is only a small piece of police training, and could be taught to a police standard within a few hours.

They'd also have to requalify every few months, much like police.

3) Ideally, but not required, the pistols would be in the hands of administrators like Principles, vice Principles, Deans, etc.... to limit direct contact with the kids.

4) Pistols are to be carried IWB and frangible bullets like Glaser safety rounds or Magsafes. This would be done to limit discussion and apprehension from the kids about the pistol. The bullet choice is simply out of safety concerns should the firearm need to be used.

I read an article about some retired Sheriff's deputies that were already substitute teachers (apparently, there's a few more than you would think).  They're being rotated from school to school in one county.  

I'm a civilian, and I've taken a regular CCW and an advanced "tactical" class given by the Police Department.  I can definitely handle a weapon.  I don't understand the thinking that civilians can't be trained to handle a weapons safely/effectively?

on the other side do you want your kids to grow up with weapons everywhere and "Dominant" Teachers? I remember when my son went to a Military service school when i was in the Army and he hated it. I took him out and because my wife is German i sent him to a "normal" school. The Army i liked but i did not want my family to have that mentality. The British army Military schools were very strict.

Yes, statistically you're very unlikely to die because of guns but it's a mind fuck and it's a double mind fuck when kids are killed. Pollution kills tons of people (cancer and other diseases) but it lacks the dramatic effect. That's how human mind  works. You can't reason with the general population.

Having said that taking someone's life with an object is barbaric and should be stopped for that reason alone.

Year 2008 is an extreme example between U.S.A. and Japan. In U.S.A. 12,000+ people were killed by guns. In Japan 11 (yes eleven). Of course normally it's a bit higher in Japan but it still shows the drastic difference between two opposite gun policies.
