Just stumbled across this - great thread!  :D  And thanks for teaching me the word 'peplum' too.

What is always amusing to me is to look back to people who, as a child, I saw as really 'muscular'.  With the benefit of hindsight - sure, they were lean - but it's funny how one's personal view of physique's changes...

interesting pic of samson aka victor mature.... steeve reeves was supposed to do that part but couldn't lose the 15 lbs that they wanted him to, for the role...

chelo alonso was probably the best conditioned peplum female lead, she was a professional dancer.
