What are some good lifts for my back at home?
« on: December 09, 2005, 07:04:41 AM »
What are some good lifts I can do for my back at home? I don't have access to a gym. All I have at home is some db, curl bar and bench press set up. Any thing I can work with here?  ???

Thanks!

Buy a chin up bar to put in a doorway or something, chins are definitely the best thing you can do for your back.

Some kind of bar setup for chins, as Bear03 suggested. If you can't do that many chins at first don't worry about it. The more you do the stronger you get at it. Can also do BB or DB bent over rows. Do the BB version with a curl grip and pull to the lower abs. Do the DB version with a wider arc for more involvement of the rear delts. BB cleans or Hi-pull are excellent for total back muscle mass and power, from the top of the traps to the muscles around the lower back. Pullovers (BB/DB-bent or straight arm)) are a prime lat builder, giving thickness and width. Also affects the pecs, triceps and abs strongly. Good Luck.

buy a chin bar that hooks on the back of the door. but you have everything you need. a bar is the on thing that i only use at the gym anyway.  you can also do bb pullovers

One arm dumbell rows work great for me.  I will also use a flat bench or smith machine and do some bent-over barbell rows.  Obviously you don't have a smith machine.  Chin-ups are great too if you can set it up.
