What's the deal with gun control in South Africa? Surely white civilians aren't allowed to defend themselves from the skyrocketing black on white assaults and murders?
A few years ago it was made law that if you had several firearms you could had to reapply for your license and would be able to only keep one of them.
Or face up to 15 years in jail.
The rest had to be handed in the police to be melted down.
And surprise surprise many of these 'melted down' weapons landed up in the hands of robbers/murderers....
It's also very very difficult to get a license especially if.....well you can probably guess.
Of course, you can buy an AK-47 or cheap Chinese pistol in any squatter camp so these laws only affect the people trying to protect themselves.
The main reason was of course the governments constant paranoia of a counter-revolution or uprising. Especially as many whites still had their service weapons from their national service days....and this was an easy way to disarm them.
