had a spat with my girl yesterday, so i trained upper 2 days in a row (all lifts til failure of course)

and today, on the second day in a row of doing weighted push-ups, db rows, db laterals, and db concentration curls... ALL OF THESE LIFTS WENT UP Shocked Shocked Shocked

so it seems that "motivation" plays a really huge role, so now i gotta try and figure out some way to trigger this "motivation" every single workout Grin

Probably fight with the girl more, it motivates a person. Looks like all your lifts went up so see the light. Cool

LOL

yeah i guess you're right man Grin

it's just that i get all panicky when i have arguments with my girl, coz i get scared that she'll tell me to fuck off for good

but someone else told me that these arguments can be a good thing, coz it shows that we view each other as being important to one another, and that it can help our relationship to grow and evolve, so it's a good way for me to look at this way, instead of getting all panicky like a fucking pussy

so do you have any good motivation techniques that you use dude?

i was thinking about getting back on stims, but i'm not sure about it...

IMO it's not the best idea to train every workout like you are ready to go through a wall. It's extremely taxing and will burn you out quickly. Now if you are going for a personal best in a lift then it's great to have that extra motivation, but for the regular sessions I think it's best to come in with a level mood and focus.

i've found that meditating and controlling my breath throughout my workouts has helped me lift more and longer without strain... i used to be one of those guys (years ago) who would get all pumped up in the gym... branch/johnnie/ronnie style... but staying relaxed and calm is far more valuable

so you approach your training kinda like a "quiet storm" then?

that's kinda cool actually, and if it works for you then it works for you Cool

focus on breath control and visualizing the movement works for me... i also focus on good breathing during reps (as opposed to holding breath)

so are you dudes trying to say that negative emotions aren't a good motivator for training?

i know that positive high energy feelings are the best motivator for productive training, but negative high energy are next in line

positive low energy feelings never did much for me

IMO the impact to one's CNS from 'adrenaline' training negate any short term value...

staying calm and focused let's you work the muscle without 'gassing' yourself out

That clip right there is what got me into training with weights. Before that I just did the basic pushups, dips, and chins with my bodyweight.

Watching that clip made me realize that I have to start doing something for my legs and made me fall in love with squats.
