Do you respect upper bodybuilders?
« on: December 14, 2005, 06:50:45 PM »
We all see these gays at the gym. Training chest and arms every time you see them. Sure we all have different goals but they kinda piss me off. Or guys that workout their legs once a month cause they think they're already big enough  ::)

You have to admit.

At least they have a choice.

But usually they tend to be the idits who love to put on either Dockers, hehe... or "cool" looking pajamas pants from bodybuilding brands... ::)

I mean, WTF?

Just wear teh suit FFS, unless you ain't got no clue.

guys with chicken legs are fun to make fun of!
and the guys who do quarter squats on the Smith Machine. The other day I saw a guy doing Smith Squats to a Bench!
WTF? Why do you need to squat to a bench if you're using a smith machine? I understand free-squatting to a bench, cause I do those on a low-bench(~parallel height) cuz box-squatting helps you learn the movement better.

Bodybuilding involves the whole body. Chest and arms doesn't equal the body, just a part of it. These people are not bodybuilders.

ive been going to my school gym lately and have got my first real taste of a gym experience. heres what ive noticed so far.

ive never seen ANYONE squat, freewieght or smith. ill admit i use the smith machine and go down half way, but its for a reason and at least im squatting. the thing is, theres some huge guys there, who use leg extentions and the leg press, but never squat.
LOL i heard a girl ask one of them why he doesnt squat and hes like
'i cant squat at all, cause of my back'
then she said, 'why dont you work out your back then?'
and he just gave a blank stare.

99% of what i see is benching and arms, arms, arms....ive seen the same guy in there everytime i go and hes doing either chest or arms everytime.

not only do  people rarely do legs, but they never do back either. back is my favorite part to do

I do hack squats and go down so my quads are as close to parallel with the foot rest as possible.

What is this reason you have for having to do half squats in the smith machine?

Well, at my college gym most guys train their calves because it makes it look like they have huge legs without actually training quads..

People come up with a lot of excuses why they can't squat.  Usually they will claim to have a bad knee or bad back.  I would guess that 95% of them would do just fine, but the reality is that squats make you exert effort and sweat and that's too much to ask of most people.

When I do legs, i have the badest pain in my knees  that could exist. But i do a couple of sets of light leg extension and leg curl, then i go squat. After like 15 minutes the pain in my knees is gone so it isn't that bad.

People who doesn't squat are gay

Train the whole body or don't bother.

Doom disapproves of upper bodybuilders.  :(

I'd say that odds are most of them don't know how to do it right, so when they do try, they end up wrecking themselves because of bad technique.  Half of them probably have 18" legs and tried to squat 315 off the bat, and then ruined their back going 3 inches down.  So now they probably do have a legitimate injury, but they're still retarded.

I know allot of guys on here love the legs, but I gotta tell you that in the regular world it is your upper body that gets the attention and admiration from just about everyone.  I never heard anyone ever say "man you got great legs as an introduction.  I do hear though allot Man you got huge arms or your shouders are wider than a doorway or you are a fucking thick dude.  It is the upper body that gets the notice from the people in 99.9999999% of the cases.

I lift at home so all i have is squats and extensions and squats are my least favorite yet favorite exercise, i never want to do them but after a set or two and i cant stop and by the time i get done them i feel like goin to sleep but its my first exercise and i have 3-4 more to go for legs.

When I do legs, i have the badest pain in my knees that could exist. But i do a couple of sets of light leg extension and leg curl, then i go squat. After like 15 minutes the pain in my knees is gone so it isn't that bad.

I have had that happen before but sure enough after a set or two it kinda numbs up and goes away, i think people that dont squat are just lazy, sure it is probably the most physically demanding exercise but that makes it a good thing cause the harder the exercise the better in my book.
