serious question
does turning pro mean you get a salary from the ifbb?
this is a rumor i cannot believe
they told me coleman's ifbb salary is like $12,000/month
The IFBB never pays a salary to any pro.
In fact the pro has to pay dues each year to be an active IFBB pro.
The IFBB has no network TV contract or major media coverage.
The pro card merely gives you the chance to compete for prize money.
But the Arnold is a pro invitational , where the promoter has to invite you to compete.
The Olympia is by qualification, which leaves just the handful of lower tier shows to compete in.
Most supplement contracts "pay" in product credit . Only the big name pros get a contract with salary $$ from the supplement companies.
Only a handful of top pros make a good living directly from: contest prize $, guest spots and supplement contracts.
The majority of " fitness models" that work the expo booths get a paid hotel room ,some product and/or $75 bucks .
They mostly work for the "exposure" . What a f'n joke.
I knew most of this and the extreme drug use , early on in my bodybuilding life.
That's why I got an education and career 100% outside of the fitness industry.
I enjoy being a fan now and competed in several, smaller contests for my own enjoyment back in the day.
With very few exceptions, there is no pot of gold at the end of the bodybuilding rainbow.
