Careful...Christopher Reeves is a legend and the only true Superman!   >:(

Nobody is disputing that, Chris will always be a Legend,  but would it be viable for a "Superman" to have Christophers physique in 2013+?

That is the question.

I like Alex Ross' idea that Superman should be a big strong guy but not necessarily a bodybuilder type. It's Batman who needs to work his ass off in the gym - Supes is just stronger because of the yellow sun.

Clearly Bats should be more ripped than Supes, but not bigger, mass-wise :D

Yep - Bat's should be smaller than Clark. Most of them should. Maybe not Captain Marvel.

Untrue.

Batman in the comic book is every bit the physical specimen visually that Superman is. Superman is stronger due to his Kryptonian physiology, not his physical appearance.

Which is why Reeves's Superman physique is more "realistic" than Cavill's.

They would need to provide some non-superhero explanation as to why Cavill is sporting that much beef. Was Jor-El similarly thick? [Even "Gladiator"-era Russell Crowe didn't look like that.] Because commercial fishermen - as Clark is in that shot - don't usually get those kinds of delts.

In any case, if they don't work in a "kneel before Zod" moment, I'm going to demand my money back.

Superman (with a very wide frame, wider than Philip Heath) (some would say blocky)

Quote

There is a difference between what the comic representation should be and what they put on the silver screen.

Batman is supposed to be about 6'2" and Superman about 6'3"

They should be physically very similar.

Tim Burton almost did a Superman movie... It was shelved, but he wanted Cage as Supes and this was the test run.

It was in the 90s when Superman had longer hair.

At least he's not a skinny bottom bitch like the last Superman.

Reeve was excellent, I recall reading that he put on a lot of muscle for the role actually.

He wasn't ready to step on the stage of history and "do battle" but he wasn't exactly small either.

The greatest casting ever for a superhero movie, show, whatever...Bill Bixby, Linda Carter, and Robert Downey Jr. are runners up.
