Do you think 2500 is a good start?  Do you think its too much? too little????

Honestly, when I'm on 2500 calories, I'm not starving at all.... but I do start to get a bit hungry before my next meal... and I'm definitely craving shit food (But that could just be my lack of discipline there lol)
Perfectly fine.  You will come down easily to the 180s and below into near contest shape if given enough time at 2500.  You won`t even have to change the calorie level.

Even better, if you DON`T do that Stupid IIFIYM diet, and just keep track of total calories instead, your Macros will have enough variance day in day out, weekly, monthly that you won`t ever have to change anything.

The IIFIYM locks you in a pointless state of homeostasis as the Macro Range is severely limited and the little variance could, and I emphasize could, cause you to have to lower calories rather than keep them high.

By a continued variance-ie- just keep track of overall calories- You will ensure that homeostasis for fat loss will be avoided and you will not have to lower calories.

IIFIYM has a lot of problems and it really is a pointless exercise in my opinion unless you are experimenting with Asperger`s Syndrome and want to know how they live.

How in the hell is your body going to go into a 'fasting state' on 2500kcals ffs?

Forgive me if the sarcasm is lost on me, I need some reeces peanut butter cups and chocolate ice cream (cups warmed in the microwave obviously)
Just go rake some leaves every now and then in addition to your weight training.  You aren`t laying in bed all day I hope?  ???

Because Ache weighs like 230 or something if he weighed 150 no problem.

My post was directed at Mr Nobody who stated 'anything under 2800kcals is going to make your body think it's starving and store fat'....

FWIW I cycle over 100 miles weekly (on a road bike) weight train 3-4 times per week and regularly have sex with my wife and beat my children (jk) , so i'm far from sedintary  ;D

When I say Aspergers Syndrome is synonymous with IIFIYM-If it Fits in Your Macros Diet- Here is what I mean:

IF you are doing this, than something is wrong with you.  Not only is it pointless and unnecessary, it is wasteful and is clearly bordering on mental illness in my opinion.  If this kid posted here, I would DEFINITELY put him on the Comprehensive Getbig Moron list.

Yes......BUT Ach's 230 pound frame is not going to metabolise all his calories - ONLY his lean body weight needs calories to function, i.e. the bodyweight minus all fat.

What kind of world do we live in where people throw away food because "they don`t know the MACROS"?

 ???  ???  ???  ???

What a deluded human being.  This is just as bad as Bulimia/Anorexia.

BigCyp, looks like I better go get a dumpster and start Clearing out my Cabinets and Refrigerator, because the MACROS might not match up to the MACRO calculator.  God forbid that happens.  ::)

YES!!! The War on Macros must be fought with decisive precision.  Might I suggest an Industrial Wood Chipper for complete Victory over the Carbohydrate Front.  I can assure you anything tossed in, won`t make it out.

Where do you figure that fat from whole eggs is not good?  Egg yolk contain a good amount of omega 3 fatty acids.

It contains O3's, but not that much, see the list below. When you selects foods, you also need to study their negative parts, such as the cholesterol content. Testosterone is derived from cholesterol, that's the good part, but don't overdo it.

Grams of omega−3 per 3oz (85g) serving

Common name    grams omega−3

Herring, sardines    1.3–2
Mackerel: Spanish/Atlantic/Pacific    1.1–1.7
Salmon    1.1–1.9
Halibut    0.60–1.12
Tuna    0.21–1.1
Swordfish    0.97
Greenshell/lipped mussels    0.95[79]
Tilefish    0.9
Tuna (canned, light)    0.17–0.24
Pollock    0.45
Cod    0.15–0.24
Catfish    0.22–0.3
Flounder    0.48
Grouper    0.23
Mahi mahi    0.13
Orange roughy    0.028
Red snapper    0.29
Shark    0.83
King mackerel    0.36
Hoki (blue grenadier)    0.41[79]
Gemfish    0.40[79]
Blue eye cod    0.31[79]
Sydney rock oysters    0.30[79]
Tuna, canned    0.23[79]
Snapper    0.22[79]
Eggs, large regular    0.109[79]

I'm with you on the ice cream (but in retrospect, those only make up 60 g of the 300 g included in the diet).  The bulk of my carbs come from the whole wheat bread from my subs.

But you consume those ice creams every day, like it's 'normal' food. C'mon, you're not a child anymore with a superfast metabolism.

Quote
Can't agree with you on the Gatorade though, since its there post work out.

C'mon, calling it 'post wo' is a weak excuse. Add a small dash of fruit juice to your water, inner- & post wo, and you will be fine.

Why do you figure 10 g of creatine is bad during a cutting phase?  Creatine can be taken during cutting without any problems.  Hell I've even been as high as 20 g of creatine 4 weeks out from a show and didn't see any sort of ill-effects.

Because you're holding water as a result of it, esp in those large quantities. Creatine is for strength, good during your off season, but in a cutting phase it's rather a matter of maintaining your mass, while getting shredded.

Carbs too high.

This.

Try carb cyclling.  I like about 4 days low carbs (100-150 g per day) and then a higher refuel day (300-400).

Around 2800 is about right for you to continue to lose fat, see if you drop too low the body goes into a fasting state and tries to hold to fat for survival.

where'd you come up with that figure?

bodyweightx12

actually that is a good starting point

Agreed.... I don't think 4 eggs is overdoing it!

No argument there

Weak argument.  Fructose post work out is total shit.  Gatorade has Dextrose and Sucrose.  Thats very important for glycogen replenishment, thats bodybuilding 101

Creatine holds water intracellularly - within the muscle...  I've never cut out creatine during contest prep and always been dry!!!

As Layne Norton stated:
Here is another anabolic property that creatine holds and this is it’s ability to hydrate muscle cells. When muscle cells are hydrated a few things happen. The most notable being an increase in protein synthesis. The second being an increase of ions into the cell. Since the cell is holding more water, it can also hold more ions since the ions will follow water into the cell in order to keep the concentration the same.   When more ions are present in muscle cells (the most important being nitrogen) muscle protein synthesis also increases.
