In a recent issue of PLAYBOY magazine (October issue, I think), one of the playmates was interviewed about her likes & dislikes.  Her first listed "dislike" was "weightlifters."  This sentiment seems to be true for many women.  Why do you think this is the case?  Do women fear BBs being able to overpower them?  Do they just not like the look?  Are they picking up the social stigma that has long existed that disapproves of bodybuilders?  Are they getting their views from the media, which tends to promote the skinny, smaller-built look on male stars?  Or have too many had bad experiences with men who are livin' large?  Any ideas?

It's a few things:

First off, women aren't attracted to pro bodies any more than men are attracted to pro female bodies.  The extreme musculature screams of obsession and narcissism, which both turn people off.  Pro physiques also reak of drug abuse, that is just how it goes.

Most pros probably feel women are attracted to their physiques though.  Maybe 1% of women like pro bodies - but how many men have those types of bodies?  Far less than 1% so each pro probably stands a very good chance to get lucky.

You made a pretty good list of reasons as it is.  I agree with them.

If you are trying to be pretty and attract the ladies, 160-210 will do it.  I would hope most people training are doing it for their own goals and not to get the girls.

Agreed.  Your moderates will be picked in much higher frequencies than fat guys and skinny guys.  But you honestly don't need much muscle for this (to be more fit than the average male).

Yeah, I've found that most women appreciate a well built guy- but not too excessive. I train mostly for recreation- a personal hobby. However, I must admit that I also train to look decent and attract women.

lets not forget that on the deepest levels, women are not as attracted to looks as men are. theyre not as visual, for the most part. they respond more to a man's status and income level and degree of power (not physical) than anything else. in fact, in this day and age, a bodybuilders phisique may subconsciously suggest to the woman that that paricular man spends too much time in the gym and not enough on career....TURN OFF!

Probably because her perception of weightlifters is formed by blockheads struttin' round with sprayed-on T-shifts and stupid pants that scream "look at me, please!" It's the obvious ones who are immediately ID'd as "weightlifters"; can't blame her for deserved, negative perceptions. Someone with the same body but a little more finesse and subtlety in presentation, without the need of a T-shirt 2 sizes too small, isn't someone she'll remember or ID as a weightlifter.

Those who lift but aren't so friggin obvious would likely be appreciated but aren't identified as being the typical lunkheaded ego maniacs people think of when they think of weightlifters.

Second, a guy overtly showing off the bod is not only tasteless to most, it's practically admiting a lack of class or money.

Women as a rule like just about anything and everything out there.  It really just depends on what about you strikes their fancy.  Some might like your muscle, others may not, some may like you IN SPITE of your muscle, others may not.  It's way too convoluted a topic to generalize on.  Half the time women don't know what the fu.ck they want......so why should you?

I heard it's a myth that women aren't as attracted to the visual as men are.  I think it's just a social construct - it's "wrong" for a woman to be open or blatant about it.

I think the main thing for women is attractiveness, as it is with men.  My thesis was going to cover this topic before I had to can the project to get another one done (for deadline purposes).

I think he does care because he has an image to uphold.  The whole image he created was that of fantasy he portrayed in his early magazines.  He started living and dressing like he does because he wanted to make his life in the magazines seem much more real.

Ha ha...I'm sure if he could, he'd take a little more youth and muscle if it were granted to him as an option with no strings attached by God, but seriously...for him to worry about it enough to go work out hard and not eat what he wanted would show a weakness in his character that I just don't see right now, despite his age-associated frailty.  Besides, he could always just pay some bodybuilder dude to drill his girls while he watched or whatever, like Steven Seagall was rumored to have paid Chris Duffy to do to his girl before he did gay porn.  LOL  BTW, I have no idea if that one's true or not, though, as the guy that told it to me's also told me some pretty tall ones before.
