You might find it hard to swallow, but as a general rule, the majority of women do NOT like body builders. That's a fact. It has nothing to do with stealing the limelight... it's about aesthetics. Most women think that kind of exaggerated musculature is flat out gross looking and repulsive. While many women can appreciate and respect the hard work and dedication it takes to achieve, only a very small % of the female population will find it attractive. It's not a big deal, there are enough bb groupies out there, ...just find one of them.
And yes Matt, women ARE just as attracted to the visual as men are, however, what avid bodybuilders who worship the pros may think is visually attractive can be, and quite often is completely different from what most women consider visually appealing. We also take into account other factors which weigh into our overall determination of whether we find a guy attractive or not. You all laughed at MOS but he wasn't far off the mark when he said:
Women like men that are tall, healthy, lean, attractive, educated, wealthy, cultured, strong, family-oriented, sensitive, goal-oriented, romantic, fun, dedicated and very well-endowed.
This leaves out about 99% of the bb population.

And as much as I hate agreeing with a guy who uses the screen name SUCKMYMUSCLE, he was also pretty accurate when he said:

But hands down the Blue Ribbon goes to Gatomjp.
It's dangerous to generalize. That's why those articles in men's magazines...'What Women Want" are usually more confusing than helpful. Interview 20 women and you will get 20 different opinions about what is hot.
Having said that, a bodybuilder is an extreme of a certain type. Just like the skinny rock star is an extreme. I think that people out on the far fringes of the bell curve in any aspect of their attributes...physique, personality or behavior, will naturally have a small group of the opposite sex that finds them attractive. Very often however, those that prefer an extreme will be overly enthusiatic about it and that works to the bodybuilder's advantage. Women that like bodybuilders, REALLY like bodybuilders!
We also have to take into account the stereotypical, public PERCEPTION of the bodybuilder; stupid, narcissistic, poor, we've heard it all before and unfortunately, far too many bodybuilders do little to dispel that image. When a woman meets a bodybuilder that shatters those myths and is articulate, sensitive, funny, worldly and talented in venues other than the gym, the woman may find to her surprise that she actually LIKES a big, extreme physique because, you see, PERSONALITY still counts!
