about 12 years ago i was able to rep 225 about 25 times weighing about 220, i was natural at the time also. i can prolly do it 6 times these days though. i switched to dumbells since 2001 or so cause of the better gains, i was also using the 140 lb dumbells for 10 reps back then also on the bench. those days r long gone though n i dont really miss the bench press at all to be honest,i get much more from the dumbells

im 48 also n at r age we cant afford to try to go for record lifts no more, at r age is all about maintenance n staying lean n muscular n lifting lighter weights with very controlled movements

I agree. Nowadays I do barbell benching after DB work, so I am pretty whipped. My last set is usually 225 and at that point, I am good for 6 at the most. Also, I am 6'3", with long ape-arms, so I have to push that stupid bar about a yard on each rep.

Sucks getting old.

I haven't really done any flat benching in years. I'm doing a chest workout tonight so I'll try it out and see how many I get.

I did it for ego with some buddies back in college and I think I did 27 at a body weight of about 240. I'm same weight now, but don't go for that type of lifting. When I do do a heavy flat bench day, my first set is 225 for 12-15 and I'm nowhere near the shape I was ten years ago(man that makes me sound old Undecided)

The most I have ever done was 25 at bodyweight of about 212! I used to finish my flat bench's with a set of 20 every chest workout! Have not done flat benchs in over a year! Lucky if I can do 10!

im trying to relate the one rep max for people that where doing over 20 reps with 225, its kinda hard though cause at my best i benched 405 once, i weighed about 245 though. i know a guy though that was only doing 350 1 rep max n was able to rep 225 like 25 times, i guess its different type of muscle fibers or some people r just straight up better at medium weight higher reps

I'm 48 ...... will be 49 later this month. I do a 225 burn out as a last set after doing my heavy sets. The most reps I've done is 22 - 23. Never tried to do them when I'm fresh.

Easily 15-25.  I usually do about 12 reps at 225 in my workout as I pyramid up to 325.

Now I can't do 15 reps with 225 ....    Sad
