With Greece in such economic shits, is it cheap to buy a nice Mediterranean villa right on the water?

Yes, I've been looking and the prices are dirt cheap. Not sure how hard it would be for a foreigner to buy there though, and I'm also not sure of the crime and whether or not you'd end up getting the boot after a revolution.

No revolution gonna happen here!!! :P

The crime levels are pretty low at places like Crete. Things go bad in Athens and in particular places of our capital such as the center or the west blocks of it.

this Spartans thing must be a myth?? ???

Byzantine rule, plagues, and Slavic incursions seem to have wiped-out the Spartiate bloodlines.  Sparta was destroyed/abandoned, and Mystras built several miles beside the ruins.  The Peloponnese was nearly de-populated several times in its history.

Spartan blood in the veins of those bootlickers?   ::)

I might add that the Peloponnese was repopulated with Slavs almost every time its population crashed.

Modern inhabitants of the Peloponnese are a Slav/Turkic hybrid.  The Spartans are lost... you won't find their descendants in Greece.  As their behavior so clearly shows.

trust me the german average ppl have fuck all out of this.

germany is so fucking shit excpt for 1 or 2 states of theirs, theyre flooding switzerland, which itself has already seen better times.

I'm not challenging you, but I'm simply curious: what makes you think the average German isn't better off as a result of all the economic benefits accruing to German firms and the government as a result of Eurozone membership?

From a nazi occupation in 1943. Germany says the debt was paid in 1960, Greece is broke and now wants money, and sees the austerity measures as an economic occupation. Is the breakdown of the EU inevitable? Is the nationalist machine once again rolling? What say you European getbiggers?

Do you not think the busts and statues of the Ancient Greeks look anything like modern Greeks?

A lot still have the same type of nose don't they?

let's be fair, a lot of those statues probably had some "artistic creativity" added in by the sculptor lest his head gets removed

There was a time in Germany when everyone had well paying jobs in industry with benefits, such as classical music concerts on the job.
Has Angela Merkel forgotten how it was?  Ach du lieber !

Soon, in 22th of May we gonna have a memory festival here in Crete, of the Battle Of Crete where during the WW2, the German airborns fought to conquer our island.

After their victory aginst the Greeks, the Australians, the New Zealands, the South Africans, the Englands and the Americans, they do several things to our people.

They burn down my village, they burn olive trees (the local economy moderator), they feed their soldiers with cows and chickens and goats...

They killed several civilians in many villages around Crete.

You think the destroy of the local economy, the demolish of those villages, of roads, of our local domestic structures should not be paid off, as the Germans paid other European countries?!

But the lives of hounderns of Greeks, they can't paid off...

P.S. Check here...

^^
You can read this, being from CRETE... tell everyone what this says...

Not that I'm anti-EU but the weaker exchange rate of their old local currency suited their type of economy better I think.

It's hard now with a one size fits all exchange rate, where every country has different industries, exports, labour market etc.

It's a culture thing in Europe, they were fine when the currency was weak and they were doing their own thing.

i hope youre not as uneducated or ignorant as you seem after this post.

maybe you were taking the piss.

look, greece is and always was a failure state, simply bc of the mentality, theres no if about that.i still love the people from there.

but european taxpayers havent paid a single cent for greece,im sorry.

those bail outs are loans, to be paid back in full with interest.and so far theyre being aid back.

dont be a sucker, dont fall for populist propaganda.

read a book.
lmao... you are ignorant to actually believe Greece will ever be able to pay back those "loans"

I never understood this. None of them have the same taxes, retirements etc, but share a currency. How did they ever think it would work.
