Rubio proving why he's the front runner in 2016.
« on: May 14, 2013, 06:52:57 AM »
By calling for the resignation of an imaginary person.  LOL.   And this your little tea party darling?

http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2013/05/13/marco_rubio_irs_commissioner_resignation.html?fb_ref=sm_fb_share_blogpost

Sen. Marco Rubio has sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew (full text below the fold) in which he says "I strongly urge that you and President Obama demand the IRS Commissioner’s resignation, effectively immediately." It's perhaps a sign of how interested in the details of this matter Rubio is that there in fact is no IRS commissioner at present. The last IRS commissioner, Douglas Shulman, was appointed by George W. Bush in March of 2008 and resigned in November. It seems unlikely that this Republican appointee was engineering an inquiry in Tea Party groups' tax status for partisan reasons and even if Shulman is to blame he can't resign because he's ... already resigned.

Rubio, ugh.  He wants to open the borders.  He's mccain II.   I sure hope repubs abandon this guy and go with a grownup like Cruz in 2016.

The little Tea Party is running out of darlings.  Bachmann is probably resigning her seat right now since Minnesota passed the gay marriage law.  She publicly threatened to leave Minnesota if it passed.

Of course she'll just turn out to be as liar and instead try to deflect from this fact and get revenge at gay marriage support by submitting yet another bill to repel Obamacare in the House.

There is an acting head of the IRS.  Sometimes agencies are run for years by "acting" heads.  He is obviously referring to the acting head of the IRS.

Thread fail.

No.  He specifically wrote the letter in regards to the Commissioner.  It's one thing to make an impulsive flip comment that is wrong, but to sit down and take the time to write a letter without even bothering to verify the info or who the Commissioner was supposed to be is another thing.

Your defense = fail.  No surprise.

I don't expect you to admit this is silly, but it is clearly silly.  The IRS has an acting Commissioner.  He is saying the acting Commissioner should be removed.

Marco Rubio: IRS Commissioner Should Resign
The Huffington Post  |  By Sabrina Siddiqui Posted: 05/13/2013 11:11 am EDT  |  Updated: 05/13/2013 3:36 pm EDT

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) called on the IRS commissioner to resign on Monday, following the agency's admission that it targeted conservative political groups during the 2012 election cycle.

"t is clear the IRS cannot operate with even a shred of the American people’s confidence under the current leadership," Rubio said in a letter to Treasury Secretary Jack Lew. "I strongly urge that you and President Obama demand the IRS Commissioner’s resignation, effectively immediately. No government agency that has behaved in such a manner can possibly instill any faith and respect from the American public."

Rubio spokesman Alex Conant told The Huffington Post that the letter refers to acting IRS commissioner Steven T. Miller, who served as deputy commissioner for services and enforcement when the targeting occurred. A replacement for former commissioner and Bush appointee Douglas H. Shulman has not been nominated. Shulman's term expired in mid-November.

Other Republican lawmakers have blamed the administration and demanded an apology from President Barack Obama. But the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that no one outside of the IRS developed the criteria for subjecting applications for tax-exempt status to extra scrutiny if they had the words "tea party" or "patriot."

Kind of bad when the savior of the party has to have other people make excuses for his lack of knowledge.

You always know who the legitimate threats are, because liberals start demonizing them, or highlighting stupid stuff like this.  The Daily Kos was all over this one.  lol

So who again were the legitimate threats last election?  Bachmann?  Cain?  Trump?  Perry?  Seems like their "stupid stuff" gets highlighted because is par for course the usual result of their brain wattage on display.

Nice attempt at excuse making though.  Fail.

More people calling for the IRS head to resign.  I guess they all made the same mistake?

McConnell to IRS Boss: ‘Resign’
By  Robert Costa May 13, 2013 2:15 PM

Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell tells National Review that Steven Miller, the acting head of the Internal Revenue Service, should step down.

“He should resign,” the senator says. “Believe me, if this was a Republican administration doing all this, the New York Times and Washington Post would be in absolute meltdown.”

Aaron Schock: IRS acting commissioner must resign
3:50PM Tuesday
May 14, 2013

(WASHINGTON) Congressman Aaron Schock (R-IL) is now adding his comments to the IRS scandal unraveling in Washington.

Schock says the news "is a monumental breach of priceless public trust that cannot go unanswered." He is a member of the House Ways and Means committee, which has oversight of the IRS, and says they are holding a hearing on Friday to delve into an investigation on the IRS.

Schock also makes a call for Steven Miller, the acting commissioner, to resign because "The only way to have a clean break from the IRS leadership that has mishandled this scandal and has a stake in continuing to minimize the facts is for new leadership from the outside to come in and clean house of the mentality that allowed this breach of trust to occur."

GMAFB

I don't give a shit about some IRS bureaucratic buffoon falling on the sword for Osama so she can bask in a government severance package and get a job hosting a talkshow on MSNBC.

We need an investigation by a Congressional committee with subpoena power.

End of story.

I see "acting head" from McConnell.  I see "acting commissioner" from Cornyn.  I see "acting commissioner" from Schock.

I see "commissioner" from Rubio.

If you have to work this hard at defending such a minor fuck up, it's a good thing he won't be tapped for a national ticket.  You'd be online all day.

Yeah, these are always tough.

I can say, when you work for them, 9/10 you don't use the 'acting'.  So, you would just address them as Director such and such.

But, I have been corrected a time or two and told to call them 'acting' Director.

I've seen and interacted with numerous "acting" directors of various agencies.  Practically speaking, nobody really makes a distinction.  Maybe when they sign a letter, or someone has a bug up their butt.
