I find it funny how some people say Mentzer should've won... he was flat as a pancake.

Yeah, I can't get behind that at all.

Agreed. No chest, no width. He wasn't bad, just a boring physique.

Arnold in 1st and either Zane or Mentzer in 2nd with the other in 3rd because it could have gone either way with those two. But the Oak for the win.

Years later I still think the only reason Haney got 8 wins is Weider thought Arnold was getting too big for his own britches.  There are several times when Haney should have lost to better physiques.  Same with that sad sack o' shit, Coleman.  Overrated pile of fly's delight if ever there were one.

Back to 1980...Dickerson doesn't even belong on the stage. Pointy elbowed, Curious George lookalike of peace.

Or something to that effect.

scott i love your views and they are dead on. i never seen the appeal in ronnie coleman what  i always found strange was when coleman was on the olympia stage and he would turn around  and pull his thong up into his giant black ass, and grown men in the crowd would go crazy.

According to Arnold himself, he was 210 pounds during the film of Red Heat , months later he gained over 10 lbs or so ... he filmed Twins early 1988 ..

And Guys like Don Cestone saw Arnold up close training at Golds during the filming of Twins and says Arnold was looking close to his 1980 form ... Arnold was doing heavy dumbell rows and the back started to look like his former self (he was 40) ... Even Lou asked him one morning if Arnold was attempting to make another comeback .
Dont remember what Arnold answered him but there's a funny anecdote behind it .

WoooSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This and they even mention in the movie about how Arnold's character is a 230 pound virgin (Danny Devito says it).

And what did he weigh during Hercules in New York?

250 pounds. His heaviest weight in any movie he's ever done.

Yet Dickerson WON in 1982 which blow my mind, considering he was a million times worse than he was in 1980 and 1981.

Does it surprise you that grown men would go crazy at the sight of a grown man's ass? You've been on getbig long enough to know that that's the only reason 98% of people are into bodybuilders... No homo.

Mike had genetically more rows of abs, wouldn't say they were better and Arnold's midsection was much shallower, mike's looked thick and bloated and chest not developed enough on top of it.

71' Was his freakiest year.   He had the knee injury in 72, so he never went over 240 on stage after.

He probably should have added some volume to his chest workouts and reduced directly training his waist with weights.

But of course, this would have gone against his training philosophy...

He did do that early in his career. . He got up to 40 sets for pecs. His gains stalled and he was tired all year time.  His bigger issue was he had a sluggish metabolism,   he told me he would get down to 800 calories a day before a show to get ripped.  Your weaker body parts suffer when you diet so strictly.

He was massive in 1974. Pretty sure he was high 240's the day of the Mr. O, wasn't he?
