Re: What drugs was Arnold on to be this lean ?

Exactly! he retired  in 1975 the top names back then were Oliva,Ferrigno,Katz ,Waller etc all over 240 lbs...the following years  Arnold got off the sauce, his skin was really lose for a 30 year old guy 76,77,78, specially 1979,And don't forget,by 1980 the game had changed drastically, Zane,Robinso,Dickerson,Makawi,Mentzer etc were the ones dominating  "were ripped" and under 220 lbs... So by spring 1980 not only Arnold got lean but his skin was thinner than ever!!! with striations never before seen in his prime even the split chest...... I really doubt it was the same "Formula" he applied 10 years early the early 70's.

good post - thanks

Just out of interests does anybody know what Arnold’s diet was to get so ripped for the 1980 Olympia?

Everybody wants to know ....

I was hoping Arnold himself would open up about the 1980 for once and for all...

but he simply doesn't want to touch that subject

In fact ,in the updated  "bodybuilding encyclopedia " he only dedicates on single damn page to the most popular/intriguing/controversial  contest in his bodybuilding carrer.

It just isn't that important to him. He was governor and at one point the biggest movie star in the world. At the time of the 1980 he was starting his movie career. Bodybuilding was a hobby for him then. I don't think his heart was in it. He had youth at the time and he was training for one of his early movies. I bet he was low dosing but everyone said, damn you're 75% of your last Olympia shape. Of course my percentages are subjective bs but I still stand that at 80% of his best he was still the best bodybuilder in that contest.

Actually is very important to him.  Is the most controversial contest in his larger than life bodybuilding career. He has talked about it to his ass kissers friends only . As almost every bodybuilder from his era thinks he didn't deserve it.  He regrets making the comeback because its perceived as the stain in his bodybuilding career.   He even bought the footage made for tv and made sure it never aired.

Classic shot.  Pics like that always make me pine for the days the 'semi-relaxed' pose meant just that, rather than the Siamese fighting fish stance we get today...  :'(

Yep. When I met him at the 2013 Arnold, he told me his heaviest contest weight was 205-lb, but he didn't like his look.

To that I say - he looked awesome at that weight too!

My 2013 interview with him is on YouTube. But he told me about his heaviest weight off camera. He was very honest about his genetic potential.
