Never noticed how narrow Roy C. was. It terms of sheer Herculean appearance, Roger by a mile. I would have gone ( from pics ) Frank, Arnold, Roger, Chris, Boyer, Mentzer and Roy.

I labeled the photo Roy, Walker, Arnold, I didn't call Callender Roy Walker.
Yes, I'm getting older every day. I'm pretty sure we all are.

The caption says in preparation for Conan but appears to be in Olympia shape. The very first scenes of Conan were filmed in late 1980, so it's probably a combination of both.

I read somewhere that Arnold possibly only weighed about 213-218lbs for this contest. It may have come from Arnold himself.

Remember, he was 225 in 1975, so he certainly wasn't over that here, at a very slightly lower muscle size and arguably more defined.

the look of the "Bodys" from the late 60´s and also the 70´s" was not the same one like in the 80´s. The Athletes where getting mor and more ripped and detailed with every year. In the Mid 80´s Athletes like Rich Gaspari brought a new look onstage (vascular, Deep cuts, visible Skin, veins pumping more out....). The Nutrition of the Athletes changed a lot in this time, also the new medications played a role. But the look of the 70,s Champs where "softer" but great….small waistline, big chest, good arms. in the 80´s the legs of Tom Platz also set a new Standard, or the back of Lee Haney.

That was one of the main criticisms of Arnold winning the 1980 Olympia after only (reportedly) 8 weeks of serious training. Bill Pearl said in the movie "The Comeback" that the sport had progressed in the last five years since Arnold's retirement in 1975 and, if he could win the Olympia after only 2 months of training, that meant that the sport had not progressed. The next year, it was even more evident how much the sport had changed when Franco tried to come back in 1981. His upper body looked great but his left leg was out of proportion due to the injury. The leg development of the competitors in 1981 had drastically changed since the 1970's. Now you had guys like Tom Platz, Danny Padilla, Roy Callender, Chris Dickerson as well as Casey Viator, Mentzer and others who had fantastic legs.

That is still my all time favorite Arnold pic, he’s not in his prime but he looked damn good relaxed.

Annie knew he has to solidify his legacy. And be as lean and shreddded as possible as to accommodate for the new era. Where lean was not enough to win. Great look all around.
