I'm going to the casino to bet on my team.
Wiggs what do you think of the 2-3-2 format for the Finals? (vs. the old 2-2-1-1-1)
I think it fucks the #2 team in a competitive series since just to hold court you have to beat the #1 team in the NBA three times in a row, which is next to impossible no matter where you're playing. Seems like it forces you to win two road games, pretty much, to win the series, when you should technically only have to win one.
Although they are the #2 team (not the #1) so maybe it should fuck them.
In a short series I can see it favoring the #2 team, for example the #2 could conceivably win in five games by playing more home games than the #1 team.
Hard to say who's really #1 and #2 given how different the conferences are and how infrequently they play each other in the regular season. I wish they would go back to 2-2-1-1-1, but it's probably television/media related which means they never will
Maybe best-of-9 in the Finals is the answer?
