This essay is a spot on description of a huge segment of the black community. Poor, ignorant, hyper-sexualized, violent, drug using criminals. What complicates the issue is that so much of their own perceived "blackness" is tied to this kind of behavior. Any attempt to improve their vocabulary or behavior is seen as "acting white". Blacks are very aware that they have been victimized and discriminated against by whites. The last thing they want to do is betray their race and join forces with the slave masters. In my opinion that is why things are unlikely to change.
When it comes to issues of race, white people made their bed an now they are lying in it. First with slavery and second with their decision to placate blacks by allowing them to live by a different set of rules. Only when there is honesty and real equality will people be free to move forward.
White people: Realize that you created the problem and stop trying to bribe blacks to make up for it.
Black people: Realize that blaming whites for everything and taking bribes isn't going to get you anywhere.
