How?

What amount did you invest and what did you invest it in? I have a tax efficient savings account (ISA stocks and shares) where my max input into it cannot exceed £11k and my aim is to return 20% on it per annum on each years allowance as an average over a period of 5 years, I'd have to return 13/14% by now to get to your amount so far this (which I haven't done) you can't be invested in large cap companies as none have jumped up by that much, unless you pumped in 100k, or if investing smaller amounts into high risk instruments, you are double bagging, triple bagging...etc.

What bb comp did you do sev and what year was it?
Tick, tock, tick, tock........

You will be waiting forever to an answer to that one.

its a bit like his "Pro tennis player" stories, when you break it down he was just a guy out of work who played tennis, he never won a game.
Pro tennis player to me means someone who earns money through playing.

Your return rates are insane, will it be done with a self financing portfolio?

TBH, I would be happy if I average 10% in 10 years overall although I will try and keep my 20% return if I can, but this is the stock market I could easily exceed my expectations as I could easily end up 20-30% down if I'm lucky, my profolio is well spread though, I'll need a near disaster to lose the lot.

Currently high returns are possible if you pick the right companies, many are under valued or investors have fallen out of love due to credit crisis issues which has skewed their SP, plenty of pickings out there IMHO which should give you atleast 10% capital growth PA.

Usually its small nudges of 1.5/2% every few months when a bit of good news emerges such as forecasts, postive hedge fund rating, financials...etc which adds up to in 12 months, the OP seems to have smashed a big jump in one hit to get that much return, which can only be done with high risk instruments, these need a science (ideally inder dealing tbh) to stay on top, I would lose all my cash if I traded in small cap/high risk in no time. I know that cos I got burned.

I could list all the times I made money on big jumps last year. I remember those well. However, I tend to downplay the times I got stuck in the market on a 400 point loss....point is, until you are out, it's not your money.

this is better than working a shitty job

Every man and his dog made money last night after Dow went under 16,000 for an hour or so

Blind billy could have placed a long bet last night and made $$$

i'm not giving you my secrets

i wanna get rich all by myself so i can shit on you bottom feeders

If you wana be rich playing the stock market, unless you're a wizz kid working specifically working full time in the industry you're investing in i.e. a commodities trader investing in commodities, a small cap trader investing in small cap...etc then you're luck will run out.

If you have basic undertanding of economics and takw your time studying trends and watching SPs and gathering as much info on speficic large cap with the intention of growing your capital slowly and carefully, you may have a shot at doing ok....doing ok as in doing ok, not getting RICH.

what if you sell right after big jump and buy back after it comes back down?

Stop it man, so you think companies that go up MUST go down?
