I hate when people say "Phil is more marketable than Kai" - this is bodybuilding, it doesn't fucking matter about marketability - professional bodybuilding is still an underground subculture and for the fans alone - I'm pretty sure the fan numbers for Kai and Phil are roughly the same.
Remember, Dorian won six Olympias and wasn't marketable in the slightest - used to hide away in Temple Gym all year and then show up to win the thing. What do people expect - win the Olympia and get given a Nike contract?
It is true! But it depends on how close the show is. They had to give it to ronnie and dorian some of those years it was so clear cutt. but when it is a very close neck to neck contest they are going to give it to the more marketable bodybuilder especially in Kais case since he was a male stripper and was into pornography. Jay cuttler was way more marketable then Ronnie coleman but Ronnie just was way to advanced and had jay crushed most of those years they had to give it to ronnie.I think they would of liked to give it to jay.I think dorian got a huge b reak some of those years. Dorian looked absolutely horrible a few times when he won the mr.O. he showed up with a torn bicep and other torn muscles. Dorian got lucky somehow. Not sure why they gave dorian the nodd on a few of his Mr.O victorys.The fans liked Dorian because he was such a hardcore bodybuilder. He patented some of his own lifts and was a inspiration to alot of people due to the fact he was not that genetically gifted like Ronnie Coleman,Flex wheeler or Shawn ray. Those 3 had mad crazy genetics. Dorian hjad to work his ass off to get to his level. Guys like Flex wheeler had such great genetics he did not have to diet as hard or train as much as alot of the other competitors.
I think people just admired Dorians hard work ethic. kai is in a totally diffrent league he has done alot of nasty stuff! All the money Kai has ever made has mainly been off of his body. kai was a stripper,did internet porn, maybe even video porn, that is how kai has always made money is through his physique, not his looks as he is no pretty boy but his physique. I think kai won last years mr.O but it could of gone either way and nobody would of complained. Same in 20011. I have followed kai greene for 10 years. way before he even was close to getting his pro card and he has made some impressive gains in 10 years. I never thought kai would go pro and look at where he is today.
