I personally dont think you need a guru....everyone is a guru nowadays. I guess if i had to pick one i would pick one that has a good track record and has been around for awhile like chris aceto.

Look, even if I were getting ready for a show I would have someone train me as far as diet goes especially in the last week or two leading up to the show. I see all of these pseudo nutrition guru's on here giving advice with zero contest prep experience. The last week and days and the day of a show is where the real knowledge comes in. Even though I know what to do, i would rather hire a reputable trainer/contest prep person to tell me, I don't want to have to think, I would rather just eat what he told to and train.
i think the same way

Yep, they called Neil 'yoda'...he was connected with Gaspari for a while.

I remember prep guru Milos speaking highly of this guy.

Stop calling Milos a prep guru unless you have some evidence that he refered to himself as a guru.
You are simply here to throw mud at someone who isnt here to defend himself.

Now grow up and give your own personal opinions on the OP you started rather than mudslinging

The 'contest prep guru' is now a part of every modern day Pros arsenal..
Are they necessary?

Milos, is probably the best known prep guru of the modern era.

Do these gurus have a shelf life?

Contest prep guru Milos pioneered the use of lighter weights at high reps.  His stable of athletes at the Koleseum initially questioned the self appointed guru in relation to the effectiveness of such a regime.  However, the proof was in the pudding.

Yes, prep guru Milos was certainly cutting edge.
