actually, it's sweeter looking than the CL.  when does it go  into street production?  i'd say Cadillac has come a long way.

Pretty cool for a change, I wish they would go a little bit more oldschool thought, especially with the interior.  Bigger and boxier...

cts coupe is nice, and this one puts it to shame.

when i was a kid, i use to laugh at guys in the south with rag top caddies.

the company has stepped its' game up against bmw (700 and 1 series are shit) and mbenz.

Parker,

Since around the 1950's, has it gone something like this... Mercedes designs and invents original stuff, BMW copies in their later models, and even later GM, Ford, etc... copy further down the road?

It seems like every other manufacturer has body designs, or parts inspired by something Mercedes was doing a decade before.

The rear end of the Caddy reminded me.

what are the cts and escalade designs based on?  to me it seems caddy is following those traditions.  those two don't remind me of anything mbenz.

Well that explains why BMW have so many reliability problems now. Once Mercedes took a turn for the worse and stopped worrying about reliability, BMW soon followed.

Yeah, 80's and 90's MB's are still driving around with 200,000 miles looking like new cars.  While the 2000 models are already sitting in junkyards.  :-X

I believe it was Mercedes that was copying caddy's tail fins

Caddy's rear end harks back tot he 60's and 70s caddy's...and if you really want to get technical, the 48 caddy was the one that kinda started the lights.
Take a look at the exhaust tips...look familiar? Well take a look at the 57 Olds..

from the front it looks like a Rolls Royce... from the back it looks like a Continental GT.

back when Bob Lutz (Maximum Bob) was running the show, Cadillac had a full size clay model of  the ULS/ULC, which was a Bentley Continental Coupe competitor...it never came to fruition. Notice a similarity with the Bentley coupe and this Caddy in terms of side profile?

Still doesn't carry the same type of prestige as Audi, BMW, or MB, among the higher income demographic that Cadillac is aiming for.
take a look at the new CTS...
Thing is, if Cadillac didn't go thru it's malaise phase, you would say that. Because Cadillac and Lincoln at one time stood with the best of them...and Audi wasn't even really in the picture, just another arm of Auto Union...

This recalls the big coupes of the 60s-70s, where understated design language, and simplicity was key, yet had that  fat cat "presence".
