Nanotechnology scares the shit out of me. Sure it has some positive applications, but its potential for abuse is off the charts

Ya without a doubt it's some wild shit...Imagine creating oxygen in an area and being able to turn it on and off with basically a flick of a switch...Or using it in the food supply programming the nanites to do anything inside the human body. Sounds like science fiction to a lot of people but the shit if for real and from what i've read, extremely cheap to produce in mass amounts once the Infrastructure is in place...

x2. Lotsa land, dogs on patrol, ranging stakes already set out. Neighbors on-board (the ones close enough that I care about). Water, heat, sewage and electricity are all off-the-grid capable, store of food laid in, no-infrastructure comms are in and working for other "like-minded" folks. Close to 50K rounds of ammo...

The usual.

Align myself with the winning side out of self preservation of self and family.

If this means herding Cswol and Wiggs into an internment camp, then so be it.

No trolling.

If there is martial law and forced evacuation to these FEMA camps all around the country, are you going willfully?

Escape?
Fight?
Journey to other countries?
etc?

I don't bother with such things. What is the point?

The idea among some powerful criminals in this data-world, that we must have an absolute, active, consolidated and comprehensive form of identification, is what concerns me and causes me to believe there is widespread trouble ahead. I cannot see how this could be pushed as anything but a measure of relief against desperate circumstances (causing very real pressure to create desperate circumstances - that's the problem).

If some future scenario existed, where military-type personnel attempted to go person-to-person, I could see it being done for the purpose of biometric databasing, and done as a declared "securing" of the environment.

Bros, it is all done to seize an ever-greater advantage in awareness. It is an information chase on steroids (bb).

The question becomes WHAT manner of wrongdoing will occur in the process.

Can't help but think of some of these things, such as the "all seeing eye", and wonder how deeply this whole thing is etched into the human story. Something so basic and simple as binary communication, leading to some deadly selfish quest for hyper-awareness.

If you think about it, what other path could humanity possibly travel down?

I like these kinds of threads better than the Hebrew stuff, wiggs.  All day I've been thinking about all the various scenarios that would lead to marshal law. It's a fun exercise.

There isn't enough military to uphold Martial Law...unless the UN gets involved.

We are the most heavily armed country in the world when it comes to the general population. Those sum bitches in Afghanistan have one or two AK-47's that float from hand to hand in various villages, and it poses as a creditable threat to ISAF forces...

...imagine that shit 5x's multiplied over, and you'll have an accurate assessment as to how it will go down state side. Martial Law wouldn't work unless security positions are contracted out, or the US called in some other countries for aid.

Hope you're right.
Don't forget there are also 20 000+ contractors available at the gov'ts disposal

Your military doesn't need a lot of people. Remember the Boston bombing? 99.9% of people were okay with waiving their rights simply because they were told. So your military (and heavily militarized police) only need to deal with the one in a thousand who will not go like a sheep. The rest, even the big mouths, will almost all go willingly.
