I'm almost done with mine.  Just put in a brand new kitchen (my second new one in 7 years).  My gf asked me what I would do when there wasn't anything else to renovate or redo here.  I said "move".

(But not really though.)

7 year turnaround is short.   Did you not like the countertops/cabinets, or did you just upgrade to some better stuff?

To be honest, I just came across a German engineered kitchen that I simple had to have.  I reused all the old appliances except for buying a new microwave (since it was the top loading kind).

It was an impulsive decision.

Sounds kind of cool.  I almost bought and indoor grill to put in a center butcher block on impulse, so I get it....

It took over 2 months to get it in.  The entire thing was built in Germany and shipped here to be assembled and then a second company has to come and install the optional hardware to it now that it is in and finished.  (Voice activated cabinets and doors that open and close)

They literally just finished the installation today.  Left their masking tape and some other crap behind.  I spent all day putting things in cabinets and arranging the bar.

My wife love, love, love's Chihuly's work. We have a really high entrance hall which just begs for two Chihuly lighted glass art works. Have you visited the Chihuly exhibits in Tacoma, WA? If not, they are amazing.
