He didn't steal them.  The guy was doing his job...more than likely a city ordinance issue

Bullshit - if there is an ordinance you issue a citation not trespass on property to take it down.

Fat out shape thug cop should get sued into oblivion for violating the mans' Free Speech rights and trespassing.

This...  3333 is spot on here.  There's a progression of things that happen before an action is legally taken like that. They can't just drive around and enforce like that themselves.  This would have had to be a processes through the HOA, then to the courts then to enforcement if it even made it that far.  If this guy set up a sign and some cop was taking it down, rest assured, he passed all of the legal channels to do that.

I'm sorry but if I'm going to be stealing something, then I'm going to be doing it in the cloak of night wearing all black.  This cop pulled up with his cop car in broad daylight and took the signs pretty casually.....meaning that he may have thought it violated an ordinance or someone higher up advised him to do so.

Best to wait and see but stealing is not the vibe I'm getting.  Also be advised that the sign is very near a public road...even if its private property, there are laws regarding displaying signs

The Somers code on temporary signs is as follows:

 A. One residence business or professional sign not exceeding 150 square inches for each residence.

B. One “for sale” or one “to let” sign not exceeding two feet by two and one-half feet, set back at least 20 feet from the street line in a Residence R80 District or not exceeding two feet by two feet, set back at least 15 feet from the street line in any Residence R40 District or not exceeding one and one-half feet by two feet, set back at least 10 feet from the street line in any Residence R10 District.

C. In multifamily residence developments, one sign at each access drive, not exceeding 20 square feet in area or 10 feet in any one dimension. Small, nonilluminated signs not exceeding 1 1/2 square feet in area which are necessary for the direction, safety and convenience of the public shall be permitted. No sign shall be placed in such a way as to obstruct proper sight distance or otherwise interfere with pedestrian or traffic flow.

Actually you're dead wrong. Assuming the guy who posted the sign is telling the truth, if not, you're just up and saying this guy who posted the vid is a liar.  If that's so, I seriously doubt it's within his duty to just up and pull signs like that.  Now if this has already been through the HOA, courts and or community/city system then yea but nothing like that was stated here so you're just basically saying this guy is a liar... Huh

it's one of those things where the cop gets away with it, 99.9999999999% of the time.

People bitch, the cops can do anything under the guise of official business, and if you question them, you're disturbing the peace and you get arrested for resisting.

It's nice that camera phones allow ten people to record incidents now.  And cop cars are mounted with recording equipment.  and I"m sure a lot of people record stops on their phones too.

Cops are probably much more on their best behavior these days.  Exceptions like this clown should be charged just like any of us would be - as well as for abuse of power and misuse of police vehicles.

actually both dems and republicans are pretty much for fracking when it matters to them so I guess they're all ok with those fucking signs.

If there is a politician against it, it's because there is no natural gas reserves in their state.  Otherwise the dumb fucking jerkoffs would be totally for it because they'd have no fucking choice apparently and that seems to be a fucking fact.  We're on some kind of kick that we must sell as much as possible and ship overseas shit with the natural gas. It must be a great neighborhood where taxpayer expense can be utilized at the discretion of a police officer removing a sign from someone's front lawn. Was an initial warning/citation issued? Did Code Enforcement attempt in any way to speak with the property owner? Is there an HOA? Did nearby residents report the signage as being menacing or threatening?

Considering the source of the story, it is a very transparent attempt at getting generally conservatives riled up and frothing at the mouth.....it has all the classic elements to do so.....2nd Amendment and Free Speech being trampled on by a law enforcement officer. Glen Beck has it in his interests monetarily and politically to fan the flames.

Well there are screen shots of the pig doing it - which is not cool at all absent an previously issued court order or injunction against the homeowner.
