A young, redheaded woman with bright eyes has been coming to our Saturday church services for the last several weeks (I head a relatively small Episcopal church in the Seattle area).

After services today, she asked me if I wanted to dine at the Y at 10. I said yes. I didn't know that the YMCA even served food. Wouldn't be my first choice. But I will be there. What should I wear? Is it formal? Will we be able to talk about the Bible there?

I was introduced to this website when the security guard for the church parking lot brought it up in passing during a conversation one evening after our son's baptism. He said he knew a good place to spread the Word digitally.

OK, I just called her for further clarification.

I asked if the YMCA/seafood chains are anything like Long John Silver's, but she just let out a *giggle* and said that she loved Long Johns. She asked if I'd still be hungry for dinner if she had crabs, and I told her that I've had a lot of seafood in my day and thus am no stranger to crabs.

I completely understand what she means, though: if somebody is eating something gross at the other end of the table, it can completely eliminate your own appetite.

Well, time to get ready. I'll bring my NRSV and hopefully we can discuss a few passages.
