Sorry guys no PTPS as I can't figure out a decent way of asking my mother in law for these  ;D

Here it goes:

She's been dieting on a crash style diet for 5 weeks (why didn't she listen to me lol) and dropped her calorie intake from around 2200 to only 1000 per day!

Obviously she lost a shit load of water weight the first couple of weeks, and for the last 3 a good amount of bodyfat - but as you can guess her weight loss has now completely stopped.

Her current daily (shitt) diet is currently something like this:

1. Breakfast - small bowl of Special K cereal & apple - 300kcals
2. Snack - cereal bar - 100kcals
3. Lunch - crackers with cream cheese - 250 kcals
4. Dinner - small plate of whatever she's cooking - no more than 400-500 kcals

I have a good idea how to remedy this and kick start the metabolism back, then put her on a higher intake (1400-500) lower the carbs and raise the protein/fats.

Any input would be appreciated as I said I would ask you guys for her

Not saying that she does it but alot of people that says they eat xxxx calories eats much more cause they under estimate (is that how you say?) There daily food intake. One guy i knew said he ate 2000 kalories and he had the same meals every day and same quantit when i asked him to weight all food he ate 2800 calories instead.

Check the mirror not the scale. Could be holding water which is common with females. Refeed. Make sure shes not under estimating calories which is also common. Smaller inactive women don't need a lot of calories.

I keep falling into this trap myself. No matter what anyone says, eyeballing portions and kcals DOES NOT WORK.

Bullshit. I bounced back from 9 months of starving myself. Yes, it took a while, but a few weeks won't do shit permanently.

Thanks for the replies guys, as I suspected she is lying through her chins about her daily intake.

I'll ask her to email me again, the real calories and i'll go from there

If it turns out she is near to the truth i'll just change the macros to less carbs and tell her to do more spin classes

And calorie sparse, nutrient dense foods.  Non-starchy veggies and beans are great to keep a full belly and even bloodsugar, and they're good for you.  Meats don't need to be lean but don't take the piss and eat 1/2 the crackling off a roast.

Calorie dense, processed foods are the wrong way to go imo.  Crackers and cream cheese are nutrient negligible and she'd get to eat all of 3 nibbles.  

If it's boring, eat it.  If it's om nom nummy then don't.  She sounds like a classic processed carb lover so it's unlikely she'll give away food she likes to eat.

Her dedication to diet can probably be gauged by the consistency with which she's exercising.  If you're not seeing it then she may be one of the many people who are more interested in talking about fitness than in actually keeping fit, so that everyone can later agree that she 'really tried' but it just wasn't in the stars.   ::)

Don't call your mother-in-law a liar.  She wants soem advices, you give some advice.  There's nothing to be gained by questioning her.

And if I were you I'd be more interested in taking preemptive action with the missus.  Girls & mothers, etc.

Shove women's phone numbers into your pockets so she can find them when doing the laundry.  "Her?  Oh, she's just a friend.  From the gym."  She'll get the idea.

Too much bro science in this post, her fat loss wont stop on such low calories, no matter what the scale shows for a week or 2, no fat people in auschwitz.I don't think I've read kickstart the metabolism since muscle and fitness circa 1997  ;D
