Top 5 strongest bodybuilders of all time
« on: October 14, 2013, 03:54:29 PM »
Who do you think makes up the top 5?

Not necessarily in this order, but here are 4:

Ronnie Coleman
Marko Savolainen
Eddie Moyzan
Eddie Robinson

Still trying to come up with # 5

Stan Efferding is the strongest.
I would consider Stan a powerlifter first!

Pound for pound, Franco. Ronnie's one of the strongest I've ever seen, 600 lb front squats...

Bill Seno -

.

Was benching #570 and change, Deadlifting low 7's. Don't remember the squat, but he was a strong dude in all lifts, including Olympic style and held some records there.

Joe Deangelis, who was a 90's Mr. America, Powerlifter, and small time Strongman had great numbers. low 700's squat/deadlift, benched between mid #400 - mid 500's depending on weight.

Holy shit, real? There are not many powerlifters who could do that. He controlled the weight so easily.

Don't forget Ferrigno.

Quote
World famous actor and bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno (born Louis Jude Ferrigno on November 9, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York) won a world's strongest man competition in 1977 by lifting a 2,600 pound car two feet off the ground! Some of his other records include a 560 pound bench press, an 850 pound deadlift, and a 675 pound squat!

(and he didn't blow out his knee while carrying a fridge on his back)

Ronnie Coleman
Stan is a "bodybuilder"
Coleman was 5 and a half weeks out dead lifting 800 rowing 585
Stan when down to that condition isn't as strong as Coleman
Coleman was also mr I
That's about as bodybuilder as you yet so Coleman by a country mile
choice is an illusion

Yeah, it's #150/#330, which is pretty decent. Cutler is strong when he tries.

Strongest at lifting what has to be asked?

John Grimek lifted 11 1/2 pounds on the Weaver stick. If you can lift 5 pounds you are strong!

Ray Mentzer said he did two reps in the squat with 925 pounds.

Tom Platz did sets of 50 reps with 315 pounds.

Stan Efferding is the strongest.

End of thread...he's got an IFBB pro card = Strongest Pro Bodybuilder

Heaviest raw total, ever + pro bodybuilder, so yeah, he's the winner.

Franco NEVER benched 450 for reps at 185, sorry. He'd have been pinned to the bench with that poundage at that bodyweight.

Ray Mentzer NEVER hit even one half-decent rep with nine anything.

Platz told me his best with 315 was one set of 51 reps. With only three or four weeks to go before one mid-'80s Mr. Olympia, he squatted 635 for 12. :o He said at his best, even on a relatively shitty day, he could always manage 10 with 600.

Levrone could press quite a lot, yeah, but a display of extreme strength on one lift does not equal strongest ever.

Mike Francois was capable of some crazy numbers. If he had chosen to powerlift, he'd have totaled VERY high.

Coleman was VERY strong, any way you slice it.

Eddie Robinson was extremely gifted towards moving monster poundage. Benched a comp-legal 600 at 19, I believe. His squatting weights were very high, as well. His physique was very powerfully built.

Gaspari squatted with some nutty weight before he shot to the top of the ranks, from what I understand.

Eddie Ellwood (spelling?) of England could pull like a bastard.

What a retarded thread. This question can't be answered.

its almost a contradiction..... weight should mean nothing to a BB.

but, seems like the truly great freaks all lifted as heavy as they could.

Colemaj and Yates both lifted extremely heavy.

One of the most impressive things ive ever seen is the scene in Pumping Iron where Franco starts laughing with 315 on his chest, then racks it like its nothing. Scary power.

Stan is in the mix, unquestionable. Bertil Fox at 230lbs was crazy strong. Tom Prince was supposedly a power mutant at his peak, i guess Chick would know that better than anyone.
