Stu asked
Does anyone know what kind of salary those guys are on?
knny187 they do get some special pays....
They do get a little more than the average paygrade.....and it is an honor for them to do what they do. These guys are my heroes
Aside from their paygrade...they get jump pay, dive pay, and some sort of special duty pay that are paid monthly with their other entitlements. They get other pays and bonuses for rentention purposes . And whenever they do their missions, they also get some sort of per diem based on locality which they have to file vouchers for to get reimbursement. Sometimes the missions they go on can net them over $10,000 or more before taxes.....depends how long they are gone and the location they are at (locality rate and if government meals were provided or not)
They tend to make a little more than their regular military counterparts....they should be getting paid more if you ask me
Example: I knew someone who is air force pararescue. I am in a different career field and higher ranking than this person yet he makes more than me annually...the answer is because of his special pays....dive pay, parachute pay, special duty pay, dependency status, etc and his housing rate he is at..
I believe that for a person in his career field and rank can make over $50,000-$60,000 plus per year for the fact that the deployments are long (per diem), if they are in a tax exempt location, if they have dependents and authorized family separation allowance, special pay (dive, parachute, Hostile fire pay, etc). Also when you are on a mission, your meals are taken care of for you, you dont have to worry about paying rent and gas because the governent supplies you vehicles when you are on your mission ...so you actually save money and arent really in need for anything...
