They are on the same paygrade as an other service member except when they are in hostile environments they rate special pay....just like everyone else.

There's no "special pay" the government provides for special forces.  It's an honor/privilege.  But....it sure can help on a resume when seeking employment within the government or special services.

knny187 they do get some special pays....

They do get a little more than the average paygrade.....and it is an honor for them to do what they do. These guys are my heroes

Aside from their paygrade...they get jump pay, dive pay, and some sort of special duty pay that are paid monthly with their other entitlements. They get other pays and bonuses for rentention purposes . And whenever they do their missions, they also get some sort of per diem based on locality which they have to file vouchers for to get reimbursement. Sometimes the missions they go on can net them over $10,000 or more before taxes.....depends how long they are gone and the location they are at (locality rate and if government meals were provided or not)

They tend to make a little more than their regular military counterparts....they should be getting paid more if you ask me

Example: I knew someone who is air force pararescue. I am in a different career field and higher ranking than this person yet he makes more than me annually...the answer is because of his special pays....dive pay, parachute pay, special duty pay, dependency status, etc and his housing rate he is at..

I believe that for a person in his career field and rank can make over $50,000-$60,000 plus per year for the fact that the deployments are long (per diem), if they are in a tax exempt location, if they have dependents and authorized  family separation allowance, special pay (dive, parachute, Hostile fire pay, etc). Also when you are on a mission, your meals are taken care of for you, you dont have to worry about paying rent and gas because the governent supplies you vehicles when you are on your mission ...so you actually save money and arent really in need for anything...

If he was in Vietnam, he couldn't have been a SEAL, he would have been a member of UDT.  UDT was the predecessor of SEALs.

The SEALS (teams 1 & 2) were established in 1962 in during the Vietnam War.  UDT started in the 40's.  The Hair and Makeup guy on Baywatch was one of the original team 1 or 2 members.

Yeah...but Recon, MEU-SOC, & a shit others rate the same entitlements.

My point being....a paygrade is a paygrade.  There is no extra pay for being a "SEAL"

US government troops make the same unless you are in a hot zone or have an added danger to your occupation.  When you're not in the hot seat & back in the rear....that take the pay away.

Here's another thing.....just because you pass BUD's.....do you automatically get assigned a team?

No

So, those guys aren't entitled Jump, Scuba, Demolition pay....unless they are in that position.

From my experience (& most guys will agree)

These "Elite units" have shit bags in them just like the regular forces.  I've met just as many shit head seals as shit bag Rangers, SF, Recon, etc.....

Nothing makes these guys any different than the rest.....except the mission.

with all bullshits aside, anybody who call themselves navy seals would have to earn it. I saw a documentary on the Military channel not too long ago, there were 550 applicants and only 98 guys made it after hell week. the training is fcuking ridiculous. Some call it Torture, insanity, but these muthafcukers deserve respect from everyone. period.

You think that's something? you should see how the Russian Spetznaz are trained... if you're too weak to make it, they just leave you behind to die and continue.
