Many fund managers and more savvy investors here have been dumping (and even taking some short positions against) US treasury debt instruments for several years. Once rates start going up, they are going to get hit hardest - especially the longer term govt bonds.

And as we get further and further in the hole, I wouldn't be shocked to eventually see our debt become "high yield" debt.  Grin

Bonds can only be considered "high yield" if they actually pay a high yield, otherwise they're worthless junk.
The only people who get rich on junk bonds are the crooks who sell them.   Grin

The Fed will HAVE to raise rates eventually. LTBs are already rising on their own.  Grin

I much prefer carefully chosen corporate and emerging markets debt to US treasuries.  Lips sealed

A carefully selected assortment high yield bonds as part of a diversified portfolio can be a very good way to earn substantial income in that portfolio.

As soon as rates go up, ...you can say goodbye to any viable economy.
Raising rates at this point is like pilling the plug on the life support.

...now even in Zimbabwe they're refusing US Dollars. LMBAO!!!
