Crossbreeding and genetically modifying and organism by design is not the same. I don't think crossbreeding a goat with spider is possible. The aim of GMO in Monsanto's case with corn and soy is to have a crop that either produces it's own pesticide, or is able to withstand being doused in chemicals for higher yield. These efforts are being lead by greed, and you will be the on paying for their greed with your health. They don't want to feed the poor parts of the world and make them healthy, they just want more customers.

All GMO might not be as bad as you think...

True story? ???

Mexico Bans GMO Corn, Effective Immediately
by Beth Buczynski
October 16, 2013

Just when you think there’s no winning against the biotech industry, news out of Mexico City shows that all is not lost. After years of deliberation, a Mexico judge has placed an indefinite ban on genetically-engineered corn. Effective immediately, companies like Monsanto and DuPont/Pioneer will no longer be allowed to plant or sell their corn within the country’s borders.

Strong ANTI GMO movement in that part of the world.  Good for them.

lol "more than enough proof GMO is harmful"

where?

why anyone would assume it's harmful in the first place is beyond me... you people do realize we have been "GMing" our "Os" for thousands of years, right?  the only difference, today, is that we better understand how to manipulate the dna directly to get what we want, instead of having to pray our crossbreeding experiments work as hoped.

Where? LOL ;D I know America has very little media coverage of what goes on outside of the US, but scientists around the world have found issue. You are only get fed pro GM scientific studies by your own corrupt government, FDA and corporations. If your not capable of finding the info, its better that you keep eating those GMO.

He got owned into oblivion as "Metabolic", so he switched accounts. He has quite the obsession with our country.  ;D

Owned? I apologize for not putting my life on hold so I could communicate with you on an internet message board. Unfortunately I had to leave this great bastion of higher intelligence for 24 hours so I could do adult stuff like go to work.

Why is it that people from irrelevant 3rd world shitholes always feel the need to chime in with their worthless opinions on American politics, law, pop culture and the like?

Do Americans ever waste their time seeking out Chilean websites so they can register tough sounding Chilean names (Like Flaco or Sea Bass) on Chilean websites to create an outlet to vent their thoroughly uninformed and unsolicited opinions on goat milking or cocaine smuggling or floor mopping or whatever it is that you and your fellow countrymen contribute to this planet?

Of course not, so right off the bat- you’re a loser with a meaningless opinion and the argument is over before it begins.

It is plainly obvious that your envy for America probably stems from a combination of unhappiness and dissatisfaction with your personal life coupled with the knowledge that your country owes its existence to the US. From Spanish colony to military dictatorship controlled by US influence into … um whatever it has become today. The 4th best South American country in synchronized swimming at the Olympics?

Your inferiority complex is understandable.

If the plants are engineered to withstand drought, poor soil and disease then some 3rd world peeps can grow food to survive. Is that good?

Poplar trees have been engineered to suck up heavy metals and chemical toxins cleaning up contaminated soil and streams...is that good?

This subject like many is like MoveOn.org and the Tea Party agreeing what to order at dinner.

Tea Party would order rare steak.  MoveOn would go vegan and maybe leaves on the side.

GM corn is virulent.  It displaces heirloom strains.  The judge is right.

Why in da fuck wait so long then, and why hasn't anyone else by now?

Like payoffs you mean?

Probably more like 'lobbying' and mutual backscratch understandings than a briefcase full of cash, but it's one of the world's biggest businesses.  I'm sure no holds are barred at that level.

It's hard to say the extent to which government departments have their policies set by the same companies they're supposed to oversee.  I would guess it boils down to a few submissions of junk science studies 'funded' (bought) by a company seeking approval for a new bean, drug, whatever, and an understanding that if a government man says no to them then his life is going to get worse instead of better.

This sounds totally  believable and i hate to think what else could be happening through this same process.

its so ingrained in the US, in every level of production and business, that ir would take the end of this country as we know it to get rid of it.

ita pathetic how much clout those companies hold over this country. ... id say in the food/farm industry, but their tentacles go far far deeper than that label implies.

Our politician passed the Monsanto protection act, FFS, making them near invunerable to.... well, anything anyone could possibly throw at them.

let that sink in for a minute.... US politician s passed a bill to protect a private company from being attacked/sued/what have you.

Yep, politicians protected them from being sued by the people the politicians supposedly represent.
