While there is truth in what you say, if drugs were more accessible and less expensive, there would be less of these crimes committed by the users. Moreover, if there is no profit in drugs for the illegal distributors, they wouldn't be pushing them on folks and many if not most would be out of business, but then so would the DEA which might put a real crimp in the economy.
I doubt it...as I said a junkie is still a junkie, and they will still rob, steal, kill or whatever.
People rob for less than drugs. If hard drugs were made legal today, a junkie with no money is going to try and steal or rob to get the money for said drugs. Because, junkie (addict).
Alcohol is legal, and drunks still get drunk, you can't stop them. And you can take a drunk's license away, but you can't stop a drunk from buying a car.
Drugs are the perfect business model---offering another version of the sad depressive reality than many people have. Offering a dopomin or endorphin rush...people will pay, and pay dearly to be hooked.
the only problem with the Goverment getting involved, is that the government has made it out they are looking out for the best interests of the American public's health and wellbeing. Since we all know what what hard drugs do the mind and body, what moral justification does the goverment have in promoting such? It's dangerous hypocrisy.
